Research for Technological Innovation
• PIPE – The Research for Technological Innovation in Small Businesses Program – Research projects developed by researchers in small
companies
• PITE – The Partnership for Technological Innovation Program – Research projects developed in partnership with R&D
institutions in the State of São Paulo and businesses located in Brazil and abroad
11
• Initiated in 1997
• Research in SB
– Potential commercial return
– Increase the company’s competitiveness
– Stimulate the creation of a continuous innovation culture
• Two phases 1. To test the feasibility of the proposed ideas (up to 9 months)
2. To develop the research (up to 2 years)
Research for Technological Innovation in Small Businesses (PIPE)
12
• Conditions – Non refundable funding
– Up to US$ 600.000 per project (100+500)
– Main researcher must be an employee or have a contract with the SB (research carried out within the firm)
– Money is intended to solve a research problem (Fapesp supports research)
• More than one project per week approved since its creation (1.095 projects and 1.811 scholarships)
– 2 per week in 2011
