Nestled in the rolling hills of Monterey, Tarpy’s is housed in the historic
Ryan Ranch Homestead, which dates back to 1917. Today, the extensive
gardens, European-style courtyard and fire-lit interiors have made it a
popular destination for locals and out-of town visitors alike. Tarpy’s
menus feature updated versions of “comfort” foods, using only the
freshest ingredients. The great food, beautiful atmosphere and
professional service combine to make dining at Tarpy’s Roadhouse an
“extra-ordinary” experience.
Our cuisine is often called “Creative California Country.” The menu
offers a great assortment of innovative appetizers, salads, vegetarian
faire & pastas. The wood-burning grill creates mouth-watering flavors
for prime steaks, poultry, wild game & the freshest seafood. Our Event
Department will work with you to create a menu to suit your tastes and
budget.
The Courtyard This lovely space is surrounded by lush gardens and has a decidedly
“European” feel making it ideal for your wedding ceremony. The
Courtyard is available for morning ceremonies between 9:30 and 11:00
am and for evening ceremonies between 4:00 and 5:00 pm.
The Library This private section of Tarpy’s is comprised of an indoor dining room, a
covered alcove housing the bar and an additional outdoor space that can
be used for dancing or al-fresco dining. The Library is perfect for sit-
down parties inside of up to 80 guests and cocktail parties or standing
receptions for up to 100. When the outside space is used for dining,
seated capacity grows to 100 and standing capacity grows to 125. Start
your event with cocktails and appetizers on the patio and retreat to the
warmth of the fire-lit Library for your meal.

Event Assistance
Our event specialists will be pleased to assist you with all your planning
needs from the menu and room set-up to special extras like flowers,
décor, and entertainment.
Confirmation & Deposit
Your signed contract and a deposit (dependent on room and event) will
confirm your reservation. This deposit is payable by credit card, or
company or personal check, and will be credited to your final bill. The
deposit is non-refundable within 90 days of your event.
Room Services & Rentals
Tarpy’s provides linens, plates, china, flatware and glassware. We can
also help arrange for special rental items and have a list of Preferred
Vendors including bakeries, photographers, florists, DJs and more.
Food & Beverages
Beverages – All pre-set wedding menu packages include hot tea,
iced Sport Tea or coffee.
Entrée Selections – In order to provide you with the best service
possible, we request that groups of 20 or more limit their entrée
selection to two items.
Sales Tax & Gratuity
Sales tax will be applied to the total bill in accordance with local and
state regulations. Gratuity will also be added to the final bill of your
event.
Corkage
We have an award-winning wine list for you to choose from. If you
choose to bring your own wine, we will be glad to serve it and charge a
corkage fee of $25 per 750 ml bottle and $50 per magnum. The corkage
fee is applied per bottle opened.
Ceremony Rehearsal Policy
Please schedule a rehearsal through our banquet department. These
must be done before normal business hours and completed by 11:00 AM.
Printed Menus
We will print custom menus for each of your guests, with a personalized
title or message and request that menu selections be given to the Banquet
Coordinator at least two weeks prior to your event.
Sound System/Music
The Library has a CD player and an I-Pod dock. We normally play
background jazz and blues but you are welcome to bring in your own
CDs or iPod.
Cakes
Tarpy’s does not provide specialty cakes but Tarpy’s staff will slice, plate
and serve your wedding cake. We will also provide a chocolate covered
strawberry to beautifully garnish each plate
Tastings
Tastings can be arranged with the Banquet Department. They require at
least one week’s notice and are available at limited times. If you choose
to have your event with Tarpy’s we will credit $50 of the tasting cost
back to your event.
Finalizing Your Event Details
Once we have all your event information, a copy of your Event Order
will be sent to you for approval. A signed copy of your Event Order
must be returned to the Banquet Department no later than 1 week prior
to your event with the final guest count.
Final Payments
Payment is due in full at the conclusion of your event. All charges will be
applied to one account and closed to a single form of payment. We
accept cash, company check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and
Discover. We do not accept personal checks for final payment.
Parking
Tarpy’s has a private parking lot with limited parking. For events of 40
or more, we ask that you park on the East side of our pond. Should you
desire valet service, please let us know and we will help you make
arrangements.
Guest Responsibility
Tarpy’s does not assume or accept any responsibility for loss or damage
to any customer’s personal property left on the premises.

Menu Subject to Seasonal Changes
A private bar can be set up to be a hosted bar, no host (cash bar) or combination of both. When an item is “hosted” the item will be charged on consumption and the charge will be placed on your master bill for what is ordered. Wine and champagne are charged per bottle opened and opened only as needed. When an item is “no host” your guests will be responsible for payment of drinks that they order. For items sold on a “No Host” basis, the guests will pay in cash at the bar as they order drinks or they can give a credit card to the bartender to run a tab. The Library comes with a private bar on the attached patio and is stocked with a fine selection of spirits and beers.
