Structure and length In the two-semester International Year One programme, you will study a combination of core and subject-specific modules that focus on the academic areas most useful to your chosen degree.

Assessment To ensure you make good progress and achieve the results you need for progression to undergraduate study, you will have regular assessments. These include exams, coursework, presentations and essays.

Progress to your degree Once you complete the programme and achieve the required module results, you will join the second year of your chosen single or combined honours degree at Keele University. Progression degrees are listed on pages 16-19.

Pre-sessional EnglishIf you need to improve your IELTS score before studying on the International Year One, then you can choose to study either the 5-week or 10-week Pre-Sessional English programme. These programmes are designed to develop your English language reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, so that you can meet the entry requirements for the International Year One programme prior to joining in October or January.NB: Only IELTS academic for UKVI (SELT) are accepted for Pre-Sessional English course, it is included in the Combined Visa which covers Pre-sessional English, International Year One and your studies at Keele University once you progress.

Combined VisaStudy your International Year One programme and undergraduate degree on a Combined Visa.You can save both time and money, and experience a seamless transition to undergraduate success with the Combined Visa.The Combined Visa covers both your International Year One programme and undergraduate degree course once you progress to Keele University.

Structure and length The Pre-master’s is a two-term programme. You will study a combination of core and subject-specific modules that focus on academic areas most useful to your chosen degree.

Assessment To ensure you make steady progress and achieve the results you need, you will have regular assessments. These include exams, coursework, presentations, extended essays and case studies.

Progress to your master’s degree When you receive confirmation of your place at the International Study Centre, you will also receive a conditional offer for your chosen master’s programme at Keele University. Once you successfully complete the programme and achieve the required module results, you will join your chosen master’s degree.

Combined VisaYou can save both time and money, and experience a seamless transition to postgraduate success with the Combined Visa. The Combined Visa covers both your Pre-master's programme and master's degree once you progress to Keele University.

Environment Keele’s beautiful campus is rich with wildlife. As you walk around the campus and enjoy the fresh air, you will discover over 130 species of birds, 26 butterflies, 500 moths, 250 plants, 170 trees and 240 varieties of Flowering Cherry trees.

Shopping As well as two campus shops, there is a newsagent, the Students’ Union shop, Blackwell’s bookshop and Santander bank. Daily traders visit the campus to sell books, posters and cosmetics. You can also buy fresh produce at the weekly farmers’ market.

LibrariesThe University has two libraries where you’ll have access to learning resources, computers, scanners and high-speed colour printers. Both libraries offer free Wi-Fi and the choice of silent or group study spaces. There’s also free Wi-Fi across campus.
