I also met some Hacettepe students who have reached a very good understanding of numerical simulation issues for nuclear systems.

INPPS Nuclear Matchmaking Forum is a 2 day face-to-face networking forum where the main stakeholders of Turkish nuclear power plant projects come together to talk business and develop partnerships.

Turkey is a fast-growing European country with a huge energy demand. In order to cope with this demand Turkish government included nuclear into its future energy mix and awarded licenses for two nuclear power plant projects that will be functional before 2023.

INPPS 2016 Nuclear Matchmaking Forum provide a unique platform to international nuclear manufacturers to develop their strategies for entering Turkish market. As the largest and most attended nuclear energy event in Turkey, the Forum allows up to 16 face-to-face, pre-scheduled meetings with key players from all tiers of the supply chain.

akkuyu nPP ProjectProject value approximately 20 billion USDTheAkkuyuNPPprojectencompassesconstructionoffourVVER-1200/491unitswithacapacityof4.8GWintotal.Totaloperationallifetimeoftheprojectwillbe60years.ThelocationfortheAkkuyuNPP,inMersinprovinceontheshoresoftheMediterranean,waschosenbackin1976althoughtheNPPwasnotbuiltatthattimeduetoeconomicreasons.Anindependentengineeringsurveyonthesiteseismologyin2011confirmedthattheAkkuyuareaisoneoftheleastseismically-activesitesinTurkey.AkkuyuNPPprojectisexpectedtobecompletedatacostof20billionUSD.MaincontractorisAKKUYUNGSwhichisasubsidiaryofROSATOM.ConstructionfortheancillarystructuresofAkkuyuhasbegunin2015andfirstreactorwillbefunctionalin2019.Plantwillbefullyfunctionaluntil2022.

Sinop nPP Project Project value approximately 22 billion USDSinopisacoastalcityontheshoresofBlackSeainnorthernpartofTurkey.ThereactordesignatedforSinopisATMEA1,amid-size1100MWeGenIII+PWRdevelopedbyATMEA,aParis-basedjointventureofMHIandFrance’sAREVA.Totalcapacityisestimatedbetween4,6to5,6GW.Workwillbeperformedbyaninternationalconsortiumthatwillinclude,MitsubishiHeavyIndustries,Japan’sITOCHUCorporation,France’sGDFSUEZandtheTurkishElectricityGenerationCompanyIncorporated(EUAS).InaugurationoftheNPP’sfirstunitistargetedat2023,whenTurkeywillcelebrateitscentennialanniversaryasarepublic.
