International Education and Training Summit 2019 The International Education and Training (IET) Summit is the main event for Queensland which brings together

major industry representatives and government leaders to advance IET in Queensland.

The 2019 Summit will bring together approximately 300 leaders from IET, tourism, innovation, and local, state and federal

governments in Brisbane for a welcome reception on Tuesday 25 June, and a full day program on Wednesday 26 June

that will be packed with industry insights, trends, updates and robust conversations about Queensland’s IET industry.

The Theme:

The key theme for the 2019 IET Summit is: ‘Changing the narrative – a new lens on Queensland’s international

education and training sector.’

There will be three major themes in focus: Connecting Communities, Employability and Student Partnerships. These

themes are essential in shifting the conversation towards talent attraction and opportunities for Queensland’s economy.

Partnership Proposal with Study Queensland:

Study Queensland (SQ), a unit with Trade and Investment Queensland, is seeking expressions of interest from

organisations to partner with us for the 2019 IET Summit in Brisbane. This year, the welcome reception will be held on

the night of Tuesday 25 June, with the IET Summit on Wednesday 26 June 2019.

The IET Summit is one of three enabling initiatives of the International Education and Training Strategy to Advance

Queensland 2016-2026. The event hosts industry leaders, students, partners and professionals to discuss the current

trends and challenges in the IET industry and the future of international education.

Ministerial Champion for International Education, Kate Jones Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development

and Minister for the Commonwealth Games has confirmed her support for the 2019 IET Summit and we are delighted that

the third annual Summit will be in Brisbane this year.

The inaugural Summit, held on the Gold Coast on 28 March 2017, received unprecedented support from industry. It

attracted over 320 delegates; of which 87 percent rated the event as ‘very good to excellent’ and 73 percent as

‘significantly helpful in their international progress’. Social media coverage on the Summit received over 1.3 million

impressions.

The second IET Summit, held last year in Cairns, attracted 269 registrants,

with 88 people attending the Masterclasses, held the day after the Summit.

The 2018 was a success, with 93% of attendees rating the Summit good to

excellent. We are looking for organisations to partner with the Queensland

Government for the 2019 IET Summit – ‘Changing the Narrative’. This is

your chance to be able to co-design discussions on innovation and growth

in Queensland’s IET sector.
