Forms of Interactive MediaInteractive Media is a media where the User
gets to control the programs output/ result. It was made to get the user engaged in a way that normal media can’t, for example, video
games and phone apps. While there are different kinds of ways to
deliver interactivity online, the main way it is done is through digital devices.
What is needed When designing interactive Media
SIMPLE USER INTERFACEThis is so it’s easier for the user to actually use the app, kiosk, etc, complicated mechanics can cause
the user to get lost and not know what to do
CLEAR AND BOLD FONT TEXTThis is so the user can understand what’s being
written and can see it clearly
CLEAR INFORMATIONStraight to the point so that the user understands
what to do
AGE/AUDIENCE APPROIATE CONTENT
Terms and Conditions What does Privacy Policy
mean? Terms and Conditions is a “contract” that states certain rules and specifications that the user has to agree to in order to use the
service.A privacy policy is a statement that
explains how a company handles data and information gathered from customers
during their usage and most organizations make their privacy policies available to
read on their websites or apps. All of these different policies and
conditions are in effect due to data being collected from people’s mobile devices
everyday and worry of personal infringement
Material DesignThis is a "design language" and open-sourced code program that the company Google
developed in 2014. Material Design uses much more grid-based layouts, responsive animation and transitions and depth effects like lighting and shadows.
The privacy policy involving Material design involves data collection and why companies like Google collect said data, how they keep the data secure while exporting and not
transporting data to other companies and what they do with it.The terms of service of Material Design is about using their service, your privacy and
copyright protection, your content, their software, modifying and terminating services within the design system, warranties and disclaimers, liabilities in the service, and the
potential business uses of this software.
What is GUI?GUI (Graphical User Inferface) is a user interface that lets users use apps through graphic icons and
visual signal.
Apple IOS Guidelines
Apple are strict when it comes to designing an app for their platform and require those who wish to post on their
platform to meet high expectations for quality and functionality.
They have three main themes in which they wish developers to follow to keep their app up and running:
• Clarity• Deference
• Depth
Along with those themes there are added design principles that they wish to be followed as well. Not only that but
they’re strict with how the developer uses the data that is given to them on a daily basis as users use their app, what
they do with it and how they keep the user’s data safe.
Susan Kare
Susan Kare, born 5 February 1954, is a graphic designer who designed a number
of the interface elements and typefaces for the Apple Macintosh in the 1980s. Her
more notable works include The typefaces Chicago, Monaco, and Geneva and
the “Happy Mac” icon.
For the Macintosh operating system, Kare was tasked with designing many
typefaces, marketing material, and icons. Her work (both modified and revised
versions) are still being used today in many computer graphic tools.
Her work was also a big help during the rapid increase in technology and the
need for branding as the company needed to make their products unique. It gave
them the push they needed to come out as an intuitive tech company.
Harry Beck
Harry Beck is a man that created the iconic London tube map, drawn out around
1933 while working for the TFL as an electrical draughtsman, due to the fact that
Beck found the previous map to be too confusing for people to properly follow.
Original 1933 Tube map However, his artworks were repeatedly rejected by the
publicity department due to being such a drastic change from the current map at
the time before finally being accepted from a successful trial print-run.
The difference between Harry’s map to the previous is that it shows his idea of
prioritizing the map outlining the subway system itself rather than mentioning the
distance itself. It’s shown through the colour codings of each platform/training,
through this the different lines didn’t clash and become confusing, it was all neat
and easy to read.
Though the lack of timing between each station was an issue with the publicity
department due to the fact that they found that it was difficult to be able to tell
how long the journey would take, but Harry did this so that all the tube stations
could fit onto the map.

Style?Cartoony and simple so it’s easier to understand and it isn’t too cluttered
Examples :Audience using said map will know what to look at
and will understand where they need to go
Ideas
May add a mascot to the map??Would add more detail such as opening and closing times, if they sell vegetarian/vegan friendly food etc.
Information boxes?Either a speech bubble as if the mascot was talking or a “fluffy”/cloudy box with information in it.
