Improve your English at the Clark College IELP! This program will help you to develop the English skills needed to enter to achieve your academic, professional or personal goals.
New IELP students take placement tests during orientation to determine their level of English and Math. Students register for classes during orientation. Orientation is required for all new international students.

Intensive English Language Program

IELP students can choose from excellent housing options close to the college:• Homestay: Live with an American host family to practice English and learn about American life and culture.

IELP Levels:
Accommodation
Level 1–Essential
Students will study basic reading, writing, listening and speaking. Learning technology will be introduced.
Level 2 – Intermediate
Students will study intermediate reading, writing, listening and discussion skills. Students will also learn about U.S. colleges and learning technology.
Level 3–Advanced
Students will study advanced reading, writing, academic vocabulary, listening, conversation, group work and basic presentation skills. Use of learning technology and exploration of college majors will be included.
Level 4–Upper Advanced
Students will study U.S. college preparation skills including reading and writing academic essays, note taking and study skills. Expanded use of learning technology and public speaking, including class discussions and presentations, will be emphasized.
Students may be advised to register for Math with IELP classes if needed.
