Safe operation in the field

The operator has all the

Flow meters:

All types of flow meters can be connected to the Batching Master via pulses or the 4-20 mA inputs. The converter MFC 010 of the flow meter Optimasscan also be connected to the 2. Modbus interface of the Batching Master.

Precise Batch:

The batching valve will be opened

In a soft start-ramp and will be closed

with a 5-step shut down ramp.These ramps allow to fill also smallquantities in higher sized systems.

No pressure ”hammer” in high flow rate systems:

This is eliminated because of the soft start ramp and the shut down ramp of the 4 - 20 mA signal.

Error messages in clear text

The Batching Master has many safety- and monitoring functions. In case of a failure message the batch will be stopped immediately. After resetting the

message, the batch can be continued via the start button.

Emergency stop switch

The Batching Master 110i has a proofed emergency stop switch at the front side, which can be delivered optional with a key inside.

The emergency stop switches off the 4-20 mA output signal and the digital outputs 1-3. The batch process will be stopped by it’s software and a failure message will be indicated.

One digital input for the connection of an additional emergency stop signal.

One digital output for the message “emergency stop pressed”.

Low flow rate monitoring

If the flow rate during the batch is to low, the Batching Masterstops the batch after a programmed time. This function prevent an uncontrolled filling during a failure in the measuring system.

Sensor break- and measuring range overrun monitoring

The Batching Master monitors the 4/20 mA input and the NAMUR contact input circuit. In case of a sensor break or a measuring range overrun the batch will be stopped with a failure message.

Error at the flow meterThe error output of the flow meter can be connected to a digitalinput of the Batching Master. A failure of the flow meter will stop the batch immediately.

PID Controller function (Option)

The Batching Master has 2 separate controllers which can work parallel during the batch.

1. The flow controller that makes it possible to batch a product with a pre-programmable flow rate.

2. The override controller is able to control a second physical value during the batch. E.g. the temperature or the pressure of the product.

Automatic and manual filling/purge functions for the measuring system

For the emptying, cleaning or filling of the pipe system it could be necessary to open the batching valve. This can be done by a digital input, or by the function key F1. During this time the flow rate signal will not be counted.

It is also possible to fill or purge the system automatically before each batching process for a programmed time, or until a contact at a digital input indicates liquid in the pipe.

Before the start of the batch, it is possible to chose a product way via the function keys F1 – F3. It is possible to program one question text and three product way texts.

Two release signals

These two custom specific release

signals works via digital inputs. When they are activated, then the batch will be stopped with a failure message which can be changed in the programming menu.

Terminal function:

It is possible to use the Batching Master

via the MODBUS interface as a HMI (human machine interface).

The supervisory system is able to show texts, and the user can make selections or can enter information, like order numbers or access codes.

API Flow conversion function

The base density at standard temperature can be calculated or can be programmed.

Batch dimension can be mass volume or standard volume fix for each batch. Also it is possible to select between this dimensions before the pre-set input at each batch process.

All physical values and counters can be indicated via a special menu at the Batching Master.

These values are also shown at the Modbusinterface. Some selection- and indication examples are shown on the right side of this page.

Loading and Batching of Liquefied Gas

Liquefied Petroleum Gas demonstrates out gassing effects as soon as the pressure falls below the vaporization pressure of the LPG. These vapour

locks would cause fail-measurements in the flow meter.

The override control function of the Batching Master works as a pressure controller which keeps the pressure during the batch.

The 25 - step linearization func-tion of the Batching Master deliver the right pressure set point depending on thetemperature signal.

The batching- and the controller function work parallel. The lowest of the two output signals will be transmitted to the valve.

Pipeline Master the flow computer

The Pipeline Master is used in metering skidsin pipelines or at continuous flow measuringpoints in chemical parks between companies.

Flow signal: Pulses, double pulses, 4-20 mA or RS485 Modbus.

Via API flow conversion functions the Pipeline Master is able to calculate the volume flow at 15°C out of the actual flow-, temperature-, pressure- and density signals.

6 counter blocks are available, 5 of them are reset able automatic in a time period or by a digital input or a Modbus register.

Each counter block provides counters for mass, volume, standard volume, in positive and reverse direction and also a failure counters, when Pipeline Master detect a failure measuring system

The printer multiplexer PCC 400 is able to store the printouts of the counter values in a file or to print them via a CT proofed printer.
