The results so far...
• The students in the Kea and Kokako Reading groups were reading well below expectation and accordingly formed my target group for Literacy.
• Four students in Kea reading group:
• They started the year reading at Level 9 - three out of the four students are currently reading at Level 17, a movement of eight levels in less than two terms. Not bad eh? :-)

• The three students in Kokako Reading group started the year on Level 14. Two are currently reading at Level 21 while the third is reading at Level 22. A movement of seven and eight levels respectively, in less than two terms.

What has made the difference?
• Using the students’ running records and reading behaviours when reading with me, I identified their specific learning needs.
• From there I devised and sourced various computer activities to address these needs.

• Although the activities are similar to the “pen and paper” activities of years gone by, the presentation is far more appealing and interactive, thus ensuring a much higher level of engagement, which in turn has resulted in higher achievement levels.
