Thermamax is recognized worldwide as the specialist in the design and manufacture of thermal and acoustic insulation systems for engine compartments and exhaust lines for diesel and gasoline engines, fuel cells, and electric drive systems.

Thermamax serves customers around the world and oper-ates two manufacturing facilities (Mannheim, Germany and Aurora, IL, USA), several sales & marketing offices in the US and Italy as well as a corporation in Taicang, China.

Thermamax is recognized for its comprehensive, process- oriented approach. With its in-house research and test laboratories, extensive engineering capability, continuous investment in advanced production technologies, and earlystage cooperation with development engineers in lead-ing OEMs and Tier 1 supplier chain, they are able to propose unique solutions, tailor-made to meet all requirements. Thermamax supplies complete systems from concept, de-tailed design and prototypes, for low volume requirements through to series production.

We were one of the first to offer 100 % SOLAS-compliant solu-tions both for the marinization and the retrofittig of engines. Our insulation systems don’t just retain the necessary process heat in the system, they also provide an effective protection for man and machine.

The advantages are clear:

| safety for personnel and equipment

| innovative solutions for compliance with stringent emission standards

| significantly lower noise levels

| reduction of life-cycle costs

| shorter development time frames

| easy installation solutions

Safety of Life at Sea:new and retrofitting solutions from Thermamax.

Thermamax has been the unchallenged technologyleader for SOLAS-compliant insulation of turbo- chargers and exhaust systems on the high seas for many years. When employed as spray guards, traditional insulation concepts do not offer sufficient protection against pen etration by flammable fluids.

Thanks to our close collaboration with almost allleading manufacturers of marine engines, we pos-sess the know-how to provide fast and effectivesolutions for your problems: multi-modular Tmax insulation housings

can be installed either to extend existing turbo- charger housings, or as full housing solutions forthe engine block and turbocharger, and the entireexhaust system.

| Robust and long-lasting modular system| 100 % SOLAS-compliant| Improved fail-safe performance| Considerably easier maintenance

Thermamax solutions: easier compliance with IMO 3 through precise temperature control.

SOLAS IMO regulations

As a result of regulations like IMO 3, vessels sailingin coastal waters must also be fitted with efficientemission control.

Temperature control plays a decisive role in the quality of the results of exhaust gas aftertreatment. SCR systems and other components can only work to the best of their abilities when they are con- stantly within the optimum temperature range. As recognized experts for effective temperature design, we know how to control temperatures better than most other providers – with a precision measured in single degrees, if required.

Turbocharger cladding from the technologyleader in SOLAS-compliant insulation solutions.

Turbochargers generate high temperatures and cre-ate noise and strong vibrations. They are generally installed close to fuel feed lines. So fuel line leak- age can be a serious fire hazard.

The turbocharger housings are designed as modular, easily installable Tmax insulated housings.

Their extremely stable construction ensures not only ease of maintenance, but also the long life of the insulation.

Our multi-modular Tmax insulation housings forexhaust systems are installed by almost all leading marine engine manufacturers.

The highly stable construction and extremely simple installation and removal of our solutions areconvincing arguments for engine manufacturersand users alike.

In addition to ensuring SOLAS compliance as a consequence of outstanding thermal insulation values, they are also effective for suppressing noise.

08 09Pleasure Boats: Compliance with SOLAS Regulationsand IMO Emission Standards, Systematic Optimizationof Fire Prevention – and Good Looks too.

Thermamax solutions for the marinization of engines in thepleasure craft segment are the guarantee for fast and effective compliance with all relevant regulations. For single- or multi-cylinder engines, on the high seas or in coastal waters –solutions from Thermamax offer you the ideal combinationof technical and economic benefits:

| Ease of compliance with standards (SOLAS/IMO)| More precise temperature design| Better noise suppression| Easier installation/removal| Longer life cycle| Reduced life cycle costs

As in this market the design and high-class looks of the engine room also play a role that can by no means be ignored, almost all European engine manufacturers work together with the temperature designers from Thermamax.

A solution for every problem:effective reduction of turbocharger noise.

The heart of a sports boat is a powerful engine.Particularly the turbocharger running at full powercan generate high noise levels.

The good news is that: Thermamax has numerousyears of expertise in the combination of thermaland acoustic insulation.

Our modular Tmax insulation housings for turbo- chargers not only deliver extremely effective andSOLAS-compliant fire prevention, but also, if re-quired, come complete with the noise suppressionperformance to match.

Soundproofing SOLAS

The unshielded surface temperature of the engineand exhaust systems of high-performance marinepropulsion aggregates far exceeds the flash pointof diesel fuel. For this reason, the current, globallyvalid, SOLAS guidelines stipulate that the surfacetemperature of components used on the high seasmust not exceed 220°C.

Our modular, interconnecting insulation housingscan be used to extend existing turbocharger hous- ings or can be installed as a full housing solution for the engine block and turbocharger, and the entire exhaust system.

Temperature design meets product design:even in highly polished stainless steel on request.

High-powered pleasure craft are purchased andsailed by people who want only the best. Individual- ity and sometimes extreme demands in terms ofdesign and styling are integral components of thefinal product.

In the role of a development and production partnerin this segment, Thermamax has been offering leading engine manufacturers solutions that are guaran-teed to bring a smile to the face of even the mostdemanding customers on entering the engine room.

For many prospective buyers, our turbochargers orfull housings, also available in highly polished stain-less steel, were the factor that clinched the deal.
