FACEBOOK BBB

DYNAMIC SEAL

INTRODUCTION

Installing the BBB Dynamic seal on your facebook page allows you to broadcast and advertise your

BBB Accreditation and Rating. This is a medium that can help Accredited Businesses increase

consumer confidence, market presence, credibility and ultimately sales.

DOWNLOADING THE SEAL

STEP 1: Go to the Dynamic Seal Link sent to you from the BBB and add in your Business ID in order

to download the seal. Be sure to read and check the Terms of Use.

Click on to the Next Step to customize the Dynamic Seal for download.

STEP 2:

a. On this page, you are given options on how to customize your BBB Dynamic Seal. Be

sure to select the "IFrame / Office Live" option in the Advanced Installations section.

Any changes you set with the Orientation, Size, Rating and Color options of your Seal will

automatically be reflected in the image in the upper right section as a Preview of your BBB

Seal.

b. Once you have decided on how you would like your BBB Dynamic Seal to look, click on the Save and Download button. This will show you the code and BBB Seal that you will be installing later.

STEP 3a:

After clicking on the Save and Download button you will be shown the BBB Dynamic Seal code and Seal

logo. Click the link that says “click here for secure [SSL/https] code” . This updates the http:// part

of the code to https:// (This step is required to successful install your BBB Seal on your facebook page)

STEP 3b:

Keep this page open. In the following steps you will be required to:

1. For now just copy and paste the Secure Page Tab URL. You will need this later on Step 3.

Add a Custom Tab to Your Facebook Page

Log In to Facebook as a Facebook Developer.

STEP 4a:

Visit https://developers.facebook.com/apps. You'll be able to log in with your normal Facebook credentials.

STEP 4b:

Create and Name Your New Tab

1) Click the green '+ Add a New App' button from the top right-hand corner and create a new App Id. Click 'Create App ID,' and you'll be taken to your App Dashboard for the next step. (Note: You may be required to enter a captcha first to prove you are indeed human).

2) Go to “Settings” then click “Basic” then click the “+ Add Platform” button. Make sure you’re in the correct app the one you just created, in our example “Our BBB Rating”.

3) Filling up the fields. Next, add the 'Secure Page Tab URL' of the external web page you created in step 1. Remember, Facebook requires a secure URL (which starts with https://), otherwise it won't work. You can also upload a 'Page Tab Image' here (which must be 111 x 74 pixels), although to be honest, I'm not sure how Facebook uses this image since it no longer uses thumbnails in the Facebook tab navigation on your page. Enter “bbb.org” in the “App Domains” field. Provide contact email, set Page Tab Name “Our BBB Rating” then leave the other fields/settings as is.

4) When you're done editing the contents of this section, be sure to click the blue 'Save Changes' button at the bottom right.

Step 5: Add Your New Custom Tab to Your Facebook Page

This step can be a bit tricky, so read carefully. In order to add your new tab to your Business Page, you'll need to visit a link with several custom URL parameters. Here's the link you'll need to modify:

1) First, replace the parts in red in the URL above -- YOUR_APP_ID and YOUR_URL -- with the 'App ID' found in the basic settings for your app, and your 'Secure Page Tab URL.' (See step 3 or image below).

2) In our example it should be http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=1146969285447332&next=https://seal- greatermd.bbb.org/logo/fzhzbum/iframe/noble-kitchen-and-bath-90172729.html

3) So again using the example above, the URL would be:

http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=1146969285447332&next=https://seal- greatermd.bbb.org/logo/fzhzbum/iframe/noble-kitchen-and-bath-90172729.html

4) Once you have your URL, visit it in your browser. When you do, this will pop up ...

5) Select the Facebook Page you want to add your tab to. Then click 'Add Page Tab.' Keep in mind

that you'll need to be an administrator of the Facebook Page in order to add the tab.

6) Last but not least, make your tab public for other people to see! Click “App Review” click on the button that says “Your app is in development and unavailable to the public.” Set it to “Yes” and click confirm (select a category if it would ask you to).

Voila! Your custom Facebook tab should now be added to your page. Go check and see!

Adding link using mobile devices

Custom Tabs are not allowed in mobile devices per Facebook @ https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/435173473172584/. The best way for people to see your BBB rating on mobile devices is to post the “Secure Page Tab URL” above and pin this post to always be on top.

Example

And don’t forget to set this to “Pin to Top of Page” so this is always shown on top. You can also shorten the URL using your favorite URL shortener generator website like https://bitly.com/ etc.
