Schools grant scheme

The aim of the scheme is to provide schools with grants of up to £500 for projects or events linked to the teaching or promotion of physics or engineering. Projects linked to astronomy, space and particle physics are particularly encouraged, as are those relating to engineering in areas such as energy, transport, information & communications, design & production and the built environment.

Elegibility

Grants can be used to support a range of projects, for example:•running a school/college based science week activity•purchasing materials/resources outside of the normal department resources•organising a visit to or from a working physicist or engineer

The scheme is open to all UK educational institutions (schools and colleges) catering for pupils/students in the age range 5-19.

There are three deadlines per year:

For projects taking place in the summer term 2012 - 1 February 2012

For projects taking place in the autumn term 2012 - 1 June 2012 

For projects taking place in the spring term 2013 - 1 November 2012

Schools/university links scheme

The Institute of Physics University/School Links Scheme provides grants to university physics departments to improve their links with local secondary schools. We offer small grants typically of £750 for activities in this area.

Will open again from September.
