1. Assess Situation

1. Assess Situation

•Do the walls in your house look boring? If so…

•Would you like to add chair rails?

•Would you like to add crown molding

•Would you like to add coves or corners?

Page 5: Installing Trim/Baseboards

Once you know what you want to change, what options will you choose?

2. Plan/Design

•There are a seemingly endless amount of options for trim, molding, and baseboards, but…

•Plastic or real wood?

•Type of wood?

•Size, shape, and style?

•Paint or stain?

•Color of paint or stain?

Page 11: Installing Trim/Baseboards

4. Installation•Now comes the hard part. Just take a couple deep breaths, and…

1. Measure and mark materials

2. Take note of inside and outside corners

3. Inside corners require 45° cut in from mark

4. Outside corners require 45° cut out from mark

Page 12: Installing Trim/Baseboards

4. Installation5. When pieces are

too small to cover full length of wall, two pieces may be used.

6. When using two pieces on one wall make a fresh 90° cut to ensure a clean abutment.

7. When all pieces are cut, make sure they fit into place correctly.

4. Installation

8. Once all pieces are checked for fit, secure in place with paneling nails.

9. Nails should be no more than a foot and a half apart from each other.

10.Sit back, relax, and admire the fruits of your hard work.
