2. General Contents

With the addition of the 2-Side Trimmer STR to the SDD product range, a cost effective full-bleed solution is available which has a small footprint and is easily to operate. This machine is designed with high reliability in mind resulting in cost effective operation due to long production with minimal service requirements. The 2-Side Trimmer, further referred to as STR, is used for trimming the bleed off a booklet. Booklets with a maximum thickness of 5 mm can be trimmed from 2mm to 35mm on each short edge of the booklet, to a minimum of 200mm and a maximum of 320mm finished size. It is also possible to trim asymmetrical. Operating the STR and adjusting the trim settings is achieved via the User Interface (UI) on the STR. In the schedule below some results are shown which are possible with the STR by using a different Centre Offset (symmetrical or asymmetrical):

7. Connect Units Open Waste Bin and connect STR to Canon Finisher by gently fastening Bolts [C] two or three turns (Fig. 4.6.10).

9. Level STR. Check that STR is level front to rear. If necessary adjust STR height taking care not to change height on front.

1. Positioning SFM Open the SFM Top cover and lower the Locking Bracket [A] by loosening Hex Nuts [B] (Fig. 4.6.15) and position the SFM behind the STR (Fig. 4.6.14).

2. Adjust height SFM Adjust the height of the SFM by turning all wheel bolts [C] (Fig. 4.6.16).

3. Check Fitting Make sure the Positioning Studs [D] of the STR fit in the Locking Bracket of the SFM (Fig. 4.6.17).

4. Check height SFM. The top cover of the SFM is at the same height as the STR and both units are level (Fig. 4.6.18)

5. Setting the SFM parallel to the STR.

Make sure that the SFM is parallel to the STR. If necessary, adjust the SFM by turning nuts (C) on the outfeed side wheels of the SFM (Fig. 4.6.18 & 4.6.19).

6. Tighten Upper Nuts When the height of the SFM is correct, tighten the Upper Nuts [E] (Fig. 4.6.19).

1. Check terminal setting. Fig.4.7.1 shows a transformer tapped for 230V. Check to which terminal wire [A] KS1-1YL is connected (Fig. 4.7.2).

2. Set correct line voltage If required, connect wire to the appropriate line voltage terminal. (Fig. 4.7.2)

3. Disconnect STR-only label Disconnect label for appropriate line voltage should be placed on the right front side. Replace if required. (Fig. 4.7.3)

4. Disconnect SFM-only label Attach Disconnect SFM label for appropriate line voltage on the right rear side. (Fig. 4.7.4)

• The STR and SFM should only be connected to an approved electrical system which is rated at a maximum of 16A and protected by circuit breakers

• Make sure the STR and SFM power cords are disconnected from a power source.

Step Action Remarks

1. Locking SFM. Open the SFM Top Cover and pull the Docking Bracket upwards in the outer slot [A] of the Stud. (Fig. 4.9.1).

2. Secure Docking Bracket. Secure the Docking Bracket by tightening nuts [B] (Fig. 4.9.2).

3. Place and secure Covers. Reverse the procedure on page 10 and page 13 to place back and secure Covers on the STR and SFM.

4. Mount Canon Belt Stacker. Mount Canon Belt Stacker on Studs [C] on Right Cover of STR (Fig. 4.9.3 & Fig. 4.9.4)

Step Action Remarks

1. Locking SFM. Open the SFM Top Cover and pull the Docking Bracket upwards in the outer slot [A] of the Stud. (Fig. 4.9.5).

2. Secure Docking Bracket. Secure the Docking Bracket by tightening nuts [B] (Fig. 4.9.6).

3. Place and secure Covers. Reverse the procedure on page 10 and page 13 to place back and secure Covers on the STR and SFM.

1. Lift Belt Stacker Outfeed Cover Lift Outfeed Cover and locate Excenters (Fig. 4.9.7 & 4.9.8).

2. Loosen Nuts Loosen the Nuts on both Excenters (Fig. 4.9.9).

3. Adjust Excenters. Turn Excenter so slot is horizontal (Fig. 4.9.10).

4. Close Outfeed Cover Close Outfeed Cover (Fig.4.9.11).

2. Turn on the STR. Make sure STR Trim Waste Bin Drawer is closed

3. Close the STR Top cover.

4. Enter [Admin] menu Press the [Admin] button when [Ready] is displayed in the top left corner (Fig. 5.1.1).

5. Enter [System Setup] menu Use the ‘▲ / ▼ buttons’ to select [System Setup] and press the [Enter] button. (Fig. 5.1.2).

6. Select [System Setup]. Select the correct System Setup with ‘►‘as per the units installed (2/4 or 4/4) (Fig. 5.1.3). Press [Enter] to confirm (Fig. 5.1.4).

There are 3 different warning settings as follows:

1. Enter [Admin] menu. Press the [Admin] button when [Ready] is displayed in the top left corner (Fig. 5.3.1).

2. Select [Service] menu. Use the ‘▲ / ▼ buttons’ to select [Service] and press [Enter] (Fig. 5.3.2.).

3. Enter [Service] menu. Follow 0n-screen instructions to enter [Service Access Code] (Fig. 5.3.3). Press [Enter] to enter Service Menu.

4. Select [NVM] setting. Use the ‘▲ / ▼ buttons’ to select [NVM] and press [Enter] (Fig. 5.3.4).

NVM ‘Stop if booklet too thick’ is a value set to warn the Operator that a booklet is to thick to trim.

Enter [New Value(Dec):] 1, 2 or 3 with + / - buttons and press [OK] to confirm (Fig. 5.3.6).

8. Return to Main Menu. Press twice (Fig. 5.3.7) to return to the Main Menu.
