Sligo Middle School!
I am Mark Anderson. This year I enjoyed
attending Sligo Middle School. My family will be moving from this area over the summer. I enjoyed sharing the morning
announcements throughout the school with my fellow PA Morning Announcers. Two of my greatest memories of Sligo are
the wealth of experiences that I receive as a part of the WSLI TV Production Team. Wherein, there are many things I will miss about Sligo, but the two most im-
portant are the very supportive staff/teachers and the great students. Sligo Teachers help you along the way. They teach us well so that we can be the best and live up to
Sligo’s motto—”We expect the best!”
How do You Say Good-bye to Sligo?

Thursday, May 9th was the last day for this year’s
Homework Hotline Live. Throughout the year Sligo
students have taken advantage of this homework
help line! Weekly, students have reached out to
homework help, by calling 301-279-3234 or gone
to Ask H-H-L dot org. Principal Rhodes along with
students, parents and staff sends special thanks to
David M. Frey, Producer, Homework Hotline Live
MCPS-TV www.AskHHL.org or www.mcpstv.org. This
has been a great resource and a wonderful support
to MCPS students all over the Montgomery County.
Thanks again! You are the best.
It’s a boy, it’s a girl! Special congrat -
ulations are extended to the fami-
lies of Ms. Schneider, Ms. Palank
and Ms. Apgar on their new arrivals
to the family. At the time of this
edition, we salute Ms. Wone who will be having her
baby during the summer. Rising 9th Grader—
Atumn Bell said, “Congratulations to the new bun-
dles of joy.” During the absence of these special
ladies, Mr. Wyche, Mr. J. Finklea and Ms. D. Gowan
have kept the academics flowing in the minds of
each student assigned to these classes. Therefore,
we send a special thanks to our Guest Teachers
named above for your assistance and support.
The Sligo Stampede Team sends a Special Kudos and thanks to Assistant Principal Mrs. M. Finkbinder and School Administra-
tor C. Jackson for your awesome leadership of the school during the transition.

Sligo has the best!. The best Teachers and the very best Staff are
employed at Sligo Middle School. Thanks for being the support
that we need. One student declared that the Teaching Staff of
SMS is the best in the County. Our teachers take time to teach us
not only the academics, but the ways of life. Thanks for every-
thing that you do for us. We appreciate you. We salute you!
Teaching is a gift. Dr. Richard Moss stated, “the greatest gift you
can give another is the purity of your attention. Thanks!
Editorial Note: From the files of MusicalCoffee on November 12:
“We've all had that one teacher, or more, that left their mark with
us. Whether they went above and beyond to make sure you knew
what you were doing or just provided a listening ear when you
needed it, you'll never forget them. Often times, the people that
influence and affect our lives the most never know it. We take
them for granted and assume our appreciation is known. Some of
us even find it unnecessary. After all, they are teachers, it's their
job--right? Most of us are too busy resenting their existence while
slaving over that 10 page paper or challenging care plan. It's
hard to fully appreciate the value of a great teacher until you've
had some duds. There are those who couldn't care less about the
student, but found the perk of having summers off too good to
pass up. It's a shame, and our children, as well as adults for those
continuing their educat ion later on, are the ones who suffer.
So thank you. Not just Mr. C, but every teacher who has made a
difference in a child's, student's, or adu lt's life. For guiding them as
they find their way, for showing them their hidden abilities, for
helping them succeed and reach their dreams. Thank you.
I would love to name several teachers, but I don’t want to
miss a name of any of our great teachers and staff.

Mr. Rhodes, I owe you an apology. At the beginning
of sixth grade, I told you that I was making a wallet
out of “Doritos bags” so that I would have an excuse
to take the Doritos bags out of the cafeteria. I still
haven’t finished the bag or even started on it. Please
forgive me. Secondly, I feel badly for the incoming
Sixth Graders because they will never get to see how
awesome you are. Goodbye Mr. Rhodes! You’ll be
greatly missed. Ellie Henley, a rising 8th Grader.
