Donations

Blessings in a Backpack is a program that allows us to send food items home

on Fridays with students who may need extra food over the week-ends. The things that we send home are food items that the children can prepare themselves. We asked you for donations to help with this during Red Ribbon Week. As usual, you all helped by donating many non-perishable foods that will help keep a child from being hungry. Thank you for helping us help our children!

Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending him or herself.

Bullying can take many forms, such as hitting, verbal harassment, spreading false rumors, not letting someone be part of the group and sending hurtful messages on a cell phone or over the Internet.

Fall Festival

A big “Thank you” to all of you who came out and brought your families to our annual Fall Festival.

My appreciation also goes out to our PTO volunteers, CES faculty and staff members, local companies that donated items and Sarah Justus for her dedication to this fundraising event. It was a wonderful evening of fun for everyone!

A NOTE FROM OUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR

ATTENDANCE: A Key to Your Child’s Success

Research shows that attendance is the single most important factor in school success.

Being late for school also hurts a child’s learning, too. They miss valuable instruction just

from being tardy or signing out early.

Your child’s success in school depends on having a solid educational background, one that

can only be gained through regular attendance.

Here are some ways you can improve your child’s school attendance:

Talk with your child about the importance of attending school regularly.

Avoid scheduling family trips or doctor appointments during school hours.

Make sure your child stays healthy by eating nutritious food and getting enough sleep

and exercise.

Don’t accept excuses for why your child “must” miss or be late for school.

Discuss with your child what happened at school each day.

Support school rules and consequences for excessive absences and tardiness.

Show your child why education is important. Give specific examples of how education

helps people succeed.

Lead by example. If your child sees you taking off work for no real reason, they may

expect to be able to do the same.

Schools are responsible for teaching your child, but schools cannot do their job if your

child is absent. Learning builds day by day. A child who misses a day of school misses a

day of learning.

As always, feel free to contact me at anytime if you have a concern or question regarding

your child. I will be more than happy to assist you.

I can be reached at 279-6307 or at my email address [email protected].

Respectfully,

Angela Bellamy
