Before You

Upgrade: Notes

from Tech Support

The switch to Release 7.0 issignificant. It is a major shift intechnology to an SQL Serverenvironment, which will also result inoperational changes to yourorganization. Because of that, we wantour users to spend some time getting tounderstand the new environment theywill enter, as well as the cost impact.Your Network Administrator and/or ITProfessional will be able to assist youwith meeting the requirements forupgrading to Debt$Net® 7.0. Theseare our recommendations for thisupgrade:

Hardware:

1. CPU - Pentium III or better; 1 GHzor faster for all editions of SQL Server.

2. Memory - 1 GB of RAM or morerecommended for SQL Server, 512MBrecommended for Express edition. Forworkstations, 512MB is recommended. The more RAM on the server, thebetter the performance.

3. Hard Drive - 2 GB of hard drivespace is recommended. Forworkstations, 1GB of hard drive spaceis recommended. NTFS File system isSTRONGLY recommended whenformat t ing the hard dr ive .Defragmentation of the Hard Drive isSTRONGLY recommended beforeinstallation.

Operating Systems

Server:

Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4)

Windows 2008

Workstations:

Windows Vista Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4)

(Windows XP Home does not supportdomains)

Considerations for your NetworkAdministrator and/or ITProfessional:

Your Network Administrator and/or ITProfessional will be able to help youwith other requirements for upgradingto Debt$Net® 7.0, such as choosingthe version of SQL Server to use andinstallation and setup of that version.Make sure you talk with him or herabout server remote connections.Technical Support must have access tothe SQL Server. We can access theSQL Server directly from the server orfrom a workstation. The differentremote connection types availablevary. Terminal Services/RemoteDesktop from the server would allowaccess in the form of a virtual desktopon the server. Many agencies alreadyhave this type of connection. Anotherway to access the SQL Server is toconnect using the SQL managementtools. This type of connection willrequire opening specific ports on yourfirewall and having a static IP addressavailable through your ISP provider.

ESOs that Are

Moving Into History

With the Release of Debt$Net®version 7.0 we will see some of ourESOs become footnotes in history.FoxFire!, Pre$Net, and Pitney Boweswill no longer be available. WithFoxFire! and Pre$Net, we can offersimilar functionality with otherproducts. Pitney Bowes has simplybeen passed by with other technologies.

Notice File

Maintenance

Enhancement

We have added formatt ingenhancements to Notice FileMaintenance for our Release 6.9 users. In the past users have always been ableto include a bitmap image, but only atthe top of the notice. Included in the4/17/08 patch update is the ability toadd a bitmap anywhere on the notice. This gives agencies the ability to addpersonal signatures and bottom of pageletterhead. Agencies would have tocreate these bitmaps, then simply insertinto the notice using Wordpad.

Here are the steps to accomplish that:

(1) Open the notice by clicking on theWordpad button. The notice shouldalready be a RTF (Rich Text Format)file, not a TXT file.

(2) Click on the Wordpad INSERTdrop down menu and select OBJECT.

(3) Select Object Type of BITMAPIMAGE.

4. Select CREATE FROM FILE

5. Click BROWSE to select the correctBMP file. It's best to have this filealready in the Debt$Net folder, otherwise network users may not haveaccess to the bitmap when they printthe selected notice.

6. Select the BMP file and click theOPEN button.

7. With the Bitmap now inserted, youcan resize and save.

Tools to Grow Your

Business

During this difficult economy, weknow that you are struggling withcreative ways to maintain profitability. One way of offsetting lower recoverypercentages is to look at other ways togrow your business. Fortunately,Debt$Net® has several features thatcan assist you with increasing yourcollections, through increased collectorefficiency and productivity. We alsohave tools to help you market and addto your client base. Many of thesefeatures may already be available toyou at no additional cost.

Sales Management

Sales Management is one feature inDebt$Net® that affords the agency thenecessary tools to market and trackprospective client contacts and to alsofollow up with active clients. Thesales representative has access tocontact information, letter printing, notes, extended reference information, contact scheduling and the 'turnkey'ability to create the active clientrecord. Extended Service Options suchas Document Imaging further extendthe type of data available. Sales, commission and reporting are alsotracked by the software.

Navigator and Work Scoring

Collectors have the ability to rearrangetheir calling queue based on potentialcollectability of the account throughthe Navigator feature. This equates tohigher collections for the same amountof collector effort. Agency definedwork scores must be setup to make thisoption available. Both the Navigatorand Work Scoring are powerfulfeatures added to the Debt$Net® 6.9release. Other features availablethrough the Navigator include debtor

deferrals, book marking debtors forlater review, internal question andanswer communication with agencypersonnel, and qualify the debtorwhether they should be called or not.

Administrators can add a quickcomment for the collector to see whenthey work a specific debtor. The quickcomment appears on top of the baseworking screen and can be configuredto display each time the debtor isaccessed or only one time.

Dialer Extended Service Options

The use of dialers is another methodof increasing productivity. A dialerincreases agency productivity byincreasing the number of daily contactsand focusing debtors to be called basedspecific account selection criteria.Typically a dialer installation requiresthe agency to invest in dialer softwareand hardware. Sometimes thisincludes updating your phone system.

The use of remote hosted solutions hasbeen increasingly popular becausethese investments are no longernecessary. Dialer calls are passed backto the agency over existing phone linesor VOIP. The debtor’s base workingscreen can be configured to open forthe collector as the dialer transfers thephone call.

The Internet Messaging ExtendedService Option was originallydeveloped to leave customizedmessages for debtors. Our dialervendors have been able to setupremote hosted dialer solutions usingthis ESO. Debt$Net® 6.9 isconfigured to import dialer result filesto the debtor record. The CT CenterExtended Service Option is the mostfeature-rich of our dialer interfaces, but we also have a Predictive DialerESO. CT Center includes manyautomated features such as qualifyingif the debtor should not be called, theability of debtors to call in and obtain

a u t o m a t e d a c coun t b a l a n c einformation, and focused callcampaigns.
