INJAZ Al-Arab (INJAZ) is a non-profit organization that drives youth education and training in workforce readi-ness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship across the Arab World.Collaboration with public and private sector partners fuels the delivery of programs and enriches the ability of Arab youth to engage in their own economic develop-ment as well as contribute to the strength and stability of their families, communities and economies.INJAZ began its work in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region in 1999 and established its regional office in 2004. Today, it operates in 14 countries as a federation of national operations. Over 2 million students have participated in a broad base of entrepreneurship training opportunities aimed at developing basic business skills to start and run their own businesses while obtaining soft skills increasingly demanded by the private sector.INJAZ is the Regional Operating Center of JA Worldwide (JAW), one of the largest global non-governmental organizations dedicated to addressing fundamental social and economic challenges facing young people by educating and empowering them to transform their future and own the economic success.With its establishment in 1919 to prepare young US immi-grants for the workforce, JA is rooted in a history of responding to societal needs. Its global network of 122 countries generates $310 million annually in revenue and is powered by more than 450,000 volunteers and mentors, from all sectors of society, reaching more than 10 million youth around the world every year.

Our Education Model

INJAZ Al-Arab has over 22,000 committed classroom volunteers comprised of leaders from the corporate world. These educators serve as the foundation for the organization and are the key to our success in preparing a new generation of Arab youth best able to contribute to local and regional economies.Through the delivery of innovative, experiential education in finan-cial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship, our volun-teers enhance the education experience through their unique perspectives and insights.

INJAZ is supported by hundreds of organizational sponsors and over 200 Board Members representing the wider business community across the region. Both are critical in enabling us to develop and deliver our programs through their financial support as well as their provision of quality volunteers to train youth across the region.

Collaboration

By developing relevant, hands on training and mentoring programs for Arab youth and connecting them to business leaders to serve as teachers and role models, INJAZ strives to accelerate young people’s ability to contribute to the economic development of their nations and regions by becoming business leaders and entrepreneurs of their local communities.

Description:Innovation Camps are events wherein students learn about entrepreneurship and team-building in a competitive, action packed day. Students seek to address unique challenges, often relevant to growth industries or regional problems such as water or obesity; creating innovative product or service concepts to actualize in further INJAZ programming. SUCCESS STORYSci-Preneurship Innovation Camp with IntelINJAZ has pioneered industry focused Innovation Camps with the support of Intel. The Sci-Preneurship event brought together young INJAZ entrepreneurs from 6 regional countries to focus on challenges, solutions and products associated with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) . A number of Intel volunteers helped guide each team to deliver unique business services and products under the umbrella of STEM. Unique business solutions that were developed included linking irrigation systems with weather forecasts over 3G and 4G networks to conserve water.

Description:The INJAZ Al-Arab Young Entrepreneurs Competition is the flagship INJAZ event across the MENA region. Description:JA Company Program provides entrepreneurial education for students by allowing them to organ-ize and operate actual businesses. Students not only learn how businesses function, but com-pete at national and regional competitions. INJAZ seeks industry leaders with whom INJAZ can develop customized content that encourages thematic companies to develop in growth indus-tries. Once the program is developed, specific industry based awards can be featured at INJAZ’s Regional Competition.

Generation EntrepreneurFUNDABLE PROJECTS Equipping a New Generation

of Job Creators Across North Africa and LevantENTREPRENEURSHIPIN PARTNERSHIP WITH

Description:Generation Entrepreneur is a Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labeled initiative which aims to develop and sustain an environment of entrepreneurship by providing business skills training to youth from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. The project brings about an integrated approach which contemplates demand and supply sides of the labor market. Endorsed by the 43 member countries of the UfM, the project will benefit 79,000 students. The project includes three components:

• An array of INJAZ entrepreneurial education programs • Company Program • Start Up with a goal of creating 50 new companies

Cost:• Total project funding totals $4M and support packages are available from $50,000.

JA Career Success

Description:JA Career Success equips students with the tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in high-growth career industries. In addition to soft skills, students learn personal branding and resume building skills. This is the newest workforce readiness program developed by JA USA. JA Career Success is composed of seven 45-minute sessions recommended for high school students. INJAZ is now seeking to localize the Arabic and French versions and create digital pre- and post-evaluations.

INJAZ PersonalEconomics Workshop

Description:Learning to manage money is difficult. INJAZ wishes to develop a one day, updated program to challenge students with an intriguing “life map” to consider the ups and downs they will face in handling their own financial futures. During the workshop they will receive a hands-on introduction to credit and debt, savings, investments and budgeting.With Personal Economics:

• Students get an understanding of their role in society and the economy as consumers, employees, taxpayers, investors and borrowers.

• Volunteers from the world of work lead discussions, deliver activities and enrich the program with their own experiences and knowledge.

Bassem ElhadyINJAZ Egypt“My entrepreneurial adventure started with INJAZ during the 2008 Company Program Competition and was the gateway that granted me exposure to internships which enriched my work experience and, broaden my career aspirations. Though INJAZ, I was encouraged to put my entrepreneurial skills to test and, along the way found my passion for social media. Since finding my niche in the digital world I’ve established KIJAMI and TEDxCairo, my two proudest achievements.

Kijami is a digital tech agency based in Cairo that builds and manages creative digital strategies and online campaign activations for a wide portfolio of both local and international across MENA, Europe and United States. Kijami started with only three employees, and has now grown into a team of 50 members who have diverse digital capabilities.”

Noora TariqINJAZ Qatar“I graduated from Qatar University’s college of business, and I am now working as an accountant in Tasweeq. I am thankful for my experience with INJAZ Al-Arab; the entrepreneurship programs they offered truly helped shape my understanding and encouraged me to pursue the route of becoming an entrepreneur myself.

Vibrohear was launched in February 2013 as part of INJAZ Al-Arab’s company program. It was built with the passion of making the lives of those with disabilities accessible. Our winning product is a bracelet designed to aid people with hearing disabilities detect surrounding sounds. The bracelet lights up and vibrates in different levels according to the sounds nearby, and by this alerting them and helping them detect danger.

After winning the first place in Qatar’s competition, I got two more nominations in the regional competition, in addition to winning many awards such as Alfikra, Reyada, and QU’s innovation contest.”

Ayoub Korichi INJAZ El Djazair “My first experience with INJAZ Al-Arab was in 2013, participating in the company program. The program offered valuable insights on leadership and learning from failure. This experience got me thinking about what it would be like to establish my own start-up. And one year later, right after graduating from university, I put my thoughts to action and launched Kaizen Computing Services.

Today our startup company is in the market competing with some of the largest software companies in Algeria. Our great team of developers are continuously working towards providing the best customer experience. Needless to say, I’m grateful to INJAZ Al-Arab for helping me turn my dream to a reality.”
