This second year of studying Media, has given me a greater impact on the contexts and range of products I have created ,through the way I present my work , use new technologies, equipment, software's and research in depth. This has helped me further develop new skills and keep organized .

I have used many media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages for my music video, Digi pak and advertisement in which I will be creating soon.

For my music video project I did a lot of independent research on pop music videos , conventions in music videos and different theories behind them (Andrew Goodwin, Carol Venallis and Laura Mulvey). I also looked in to the artist ‘Jess Glynne’ ,my group and I chose, through social medias , interviews on youtube and wikipedia to get a better understanding on how I can create a successful music video and ensure that I followed the correct steps. In addition, I visited events of Independent British artist’s which were targeted to niche audiences. Technology played a huge part in this as different websites kept me updated and allowed me to investigate new things and find out more information. I decided to incorporate this idea as I was the artist in my music video, so I designed a website for the artist ‘AnaE’ on wix with videos,events, images and links of social medias to keep our audience and teachers updated with the filming process. I also created a youtube channel as I thought it would be a good way of involving our audience and informing them with any news. This meant that I had to use cameras to conduct interviews and take photographs which I then edited in my own time. For the interview with the artist ‘AnaE I edited it in a way that it would be visually entertaining for viewers , so I layered music and fades in and out. This interview was edited on Window Movie Maker.

Researching how to write a fact profile for Artist(me) on the internet then incorporating my

own onto my website.

Planning

After researching the artist through the internet and planning costumes , location and brand image.

I decided to create a story board with all the comments my group and I discussed the ideas we had. A story board helped have a photographic image of how our music video could look like . I decided to create the animatic in our group so that we could get a vision of how the images would look in action with time of the music and lyrics of the song. This involved me taking pictures of each frame and importing files onto Windows Movie

Maker timeline and placing the images in the correct order and decreasing or increasing the length. This involved cutting with the blade and adding special effects such as ripple , rotation and double speed to make it visually entertaining.

Post Production

When we were towards the 3rd stage of editing, where we had already completed 2nd rough cuts, we decided to add some special effects. We added slow motion when the artist was jumping to intensify the artist joy, which almost draws and connects the audience. We also doubled speed to show excitement, as well as he tempo of the music video is quite fast and we added dissolves. One example of were we added dissolves was towards he end where the artists is about to release a lantern and fire works dissolve into the shot. We didn't want to add to many fancy effects as the footage we had in our music video was vibrant through the graffiti walls and costumes the artist wore.

Although I haven't created my digi pak or advertisement yet , I have a clear idea on what

technologies I will use.

I will be using Photoshop and Quark express for the construction of my ancillary products.

In Photoshop I will most likely crop images , include a graphic design, have a clear

colour scheme (possibly pink,red,blue) which will have a visual link with the advert I

create. I will also show copyright and may add the logo I created.

Quark will be used to add text on top such as the tracking list , title of the artist and title of

the song ensuring that there is consistency through out, such as the font.

Here is an example of a previous rough designs/ideas I came out for my digi pak which I

used to present in my pitch.

This front cover I design was created before we

were introduced to ancillary products. As you can

see it’s not the best possible front cover as it was

my first time creating a digi pak without using

Photoshop or Quark. However I tried to follow

conventions of a digi pak. For example, I created

my own logo which goes with the album as there is

consistency of pink font and a colourful

background which I created on paint with

different colour spray. The use of continuity and

synergy as the artist(me) is wearing red lip stick, red

nails, big hair and one of the costumes shown in

the music video. There is also promotion sticker

Here are some photographs which were taking in a photo shoot after filming. I will be having another photo shoot and ensuring that I get close up shots and mid shots for my Digi pak as it’s important for the artist the stand out. I think hat these are good pictures to start of with as you see the artist in this costume and location in the music video.
