OVERALL BASIC DESIGN From looking into pre-exsisting websites as well as the results

from primary and secondary audience interviews/focus groups I found that interactive websites got the best response. The Babyshambles and Lana Del Ray’s websites were the most intertactive, taking inspiration from this I created my own. The website will have a rolling movement to each page, as shown on the next couple of slides, I found this rolling movement creates a smooth transition to each page making the website feel more professional. I also researched into important areas of each website and how it appeals to the audience. For the basic design of the website I used found images from the internet to create a basic layout and design to visualize my initial idea for the website.

PAGE 1 ON WEBSITE HOMEPAGE On many homepages of artist websites nowadays there is

a music player a popular application for this is YouTube as it creates a direct link to their YouTube channel as well creating more links from artist to audiences. I wanted to include this aspect into my design as it shows the artist’s music and product in one, making a link from the song to the artist. On this page and all the other pages I incorpated a music player at the top of the page, this could link to other songs by the artist to promote all songs rather than the one just released enticing the audience into finding out more about them, to buy their album in future through listening to other songs by them.

ARTISTIC INFLUENCES WHICH IMPACTED THE DESIGN The overall design was impacted by Andy

Warhol and Marco Ferrari photography style being Polaroid photographs, I chose this design to be featured on the website as it created an artistic style to the website making it more memorable to audiences which also links to the audience’s hobbies being photography and art.

From looking into other key current artists such as The Arctic Monkeys and their iconography I will present the contact style sheet of photographs in high contrast linking to The Arctic Monkeys style of photographs. Having them in this style makes them stand out to the viewer yet is clearly shown through a clean layout.

SOCIAL NETWORKING/ PURCHASE SITES As to employ the use of web 2.0 I put in links to social networking and

purchase sites just below the band name to easily show them to audiences. Allowing a direct virtual connect from the artist to the audience which can help the audience to keep up to date through notifications. From the primary audience research I found that popular sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, iTunes and Amazon were used the most so I included the main sites. Through the use of using these sites it helps to promote the band and their products to not only a local audience but a worldwide audience therefore increasing the profiling of the artist for a change of large success.

LINKS Just below these links I chose to show the tabs to all

the other pages on the bands websites to give a range of information easily formatted to the view. I chose to highlight the tabs through putting a transparent coloured overlay linking to the house colours, creating continuity across the products. The tabs will be; Homepage, Information, Music, Tour and Store as these were the most popular links on the website homepages of other artist helping to make the design conventional to music artist’s websites.

TYPOGRAPHY Typography and house

colours help add to the iconography of the band making their brand identity across their products visually known and link by the use of the same font throughout and colour scheme. For the typography I chose these two fonts( DK P.I font and Nortera) as they linked with the vintage style that indie audiences link being old typewriter print for main headings and handwritten print for information having a personal impact on the products design making the audience feel more connected to the artist by having something of theirs that is handwritten.

Researching into these typefaces I used Fontspace to help me use the best fitting text in relation to the audience and genre, creating a more professional yet personal touch to my website as well as linking with the other products I aim to create.

COLOUR SCHEME As for the colour scheme I chose these colours as

they are vibrant so stand out to the audience as well as link to morden times as vibrant colours are featured in many marketing products nowadays to attract the eyes of the viewer yet keeping the vintage style through monochrome house colours. I chose the colours tutoquise and purple as I feel purple represents pride so this would help to represent a strong female solo artist within the indie genre but to relate to the male audience I incorporated the tutorise colour making the overall house colours relatbale to other genres.

BRAND IDENTITY To create brand identity I used the same

style of font and house colours to create contuity through all the products as these will be featured on all the products, this will help to establish the iconography of the band as well as the brand identity making the artist more recognisable to the audience. These design aspects will link across all the products, link them together and to the artist.
