ODTC®: Designed for LabAutomation
Thermocycling
Heating
Cooling
Sealing
VCM® Technology
SiLA enables “plug and play” integration and guarantees cost- and time-
effective development of complex lab-platforms for high throughput
applications.
Thermal Innovations & Products 5
Compact and Innovative Design for Optimal Deck Integration
• Very low height to avoid
interference with gripper
or pipettor movement
• Competitor products are
too large for proper on-
deck integration
• Power supply and
controller are located in a
separate box underneath
the deck

Unique Thermal Performance with VCM®-Technology
• Almost ZERO well-to-well
temperature uniformity
• Almost ZERO delay-time during
PCR-Cycle
• Excellent well-to-well temperature
uniformity even with non-
homogeneous sample loading
• Still very good temperature
uniformity when lid is open

Various Options for Plate Sealing
• Robot manageable sealing mats, pick-and-
place with gripper
• Presealed disposables (e.g. sealing foils)
• Sealing mat mounted in the lid, may be used
with presealed and unsealed disposables
(cross contamination issues must be
considered according to assay type)

Free programmable temperature curves
• Easy programming of thermo cycles
• Input of process parameters:
o plate type
o filling level
o target temperature curve
ramp speed,
plateau temperature
plateau time
• Free programmable temperature
curves from +4°C to +99°C
• Lid can be opened and closed
during operation – pipetting during
thermocycle runs is possible

low-level serial
communication
(RS232)
SiLA
(TCP/IP)
Benefits:
• High integration level
• Size of a matchbox
• Standard communication Interface (SiLA <–> RS232)
• Encapsulated system (modular system architecture)
• I/O Port for further device controlling/signaling
Encapsulated hardware Module for SiLA communication

Internal serial real-time interface (2 Layer)
ODTC® internal serial communikation (RS232)
This SiLA interface module makes integration into lab automation
systems very easy. Platform manufacturers and Third-Party-
Integrators can expand their product line functionality with minimal
configuration time and effort.

ODTC® supports SiLA integration level 3
• Software (driver) with SiLA-Library on the
device
• Easy replacement of devices
• No additional hardware required
• Standard wiring to the PMS (Ethernet)

Challenges and Problems
Successful Validation
1. Fraunhofer LACS (PMS)
2. Infoteam Library (Driver)
Challenges
• No SOAP Server within the .NET Compact Framework 3.5 (MS Visual Studio )
• Translation between managed (C#) and unmanaged Code (C++) -> Middleware
• Limited resources (embedded PC), space saving and runtime optimized
programming.
• Architecture encapsulate device-specific properties (device.dll)
Problems
• “Specific commands” dilute the standard
• Interpretation of the specification (e.g. RequestID unique during lifetime)
Thermal Innovations & Products
14
• SiLA certification for the INHECO SiLA Module
• Equip further INHECO Products with the SiLA -> e.g. new On Deck
Incubator Line (Scila)
