OURPARISH EVENTS FROM OUR PARISH AND OUR FAITH COMMUNITY

October is Reverence for Life Month in the Archdiocese of Regina, Missionary month world-wide, and the month of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

This is the 7th Reverence for Life month in our Archdiocese. During this time, we are called to reflect on the true meaning of LIFE as a gift from God and what that means as we live it out from conception to natural death. Let us live it out, carrying forth the missionary motto for 2020 from Pope Francis “Here I am, Send me”. Let us offer our actions, rosaries, Masses, and prayers for the unborn, the poor, the victims of violence, and the sick and the elderly. We CAN continue to make a difference in our world as we reach out to others and be Christ’s light to all around us.

Please join us in saying the Reverence for Life prayer every day for the month of October.

The Reverence for Life Commission - Archdiocese of Regina

Although Resurrection Parish won’t be able to host it’s annual Halloween Bash this year, we will once again be handing out Halloween treats for the kids. All the treats will be safely packaged and stored at least three days prior to Halloween, just to ensure safety.

If you are able to help us out with a donation of nut-free candy, please bring it to Mass and place it on the table near the entrance, or you can drop it off at the office (between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm) before Monday October 26th. Thank You!

Reverence for Life Prayer

O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, to you do we entrust the cause of life. Look down, O Mother,

upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born,

of the poor whose lives are made difficult,

of men and women who are victims of brutal violence,

of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference

or out of misguided mercy.

Obtain for all who believe in your Son

the grace to accept the Gospel of Life as a gift ever new,

the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives,

and the courage to bear witness to it,

in order to build the civilization of truth and love

to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.

Amen

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Archbishop’s AppealOur readings for this Sunday remind us of God’s constant invitation for us to God’s eternal banquet. But like the guests who were invited in today’s gospel, we too some-times decide to give more importance to our own concerns. The Lord invites us today to look at our own relationship with God. God desires to be in relationship with us and invites us time and time again to respond. We sometimes fail in our response. Like those in the parable who rejected the invitation, we get busy with our own agendas; we ignore God. Or, like the man who shows up improperly dressed, we have the wrong attitude. We may be smug, indifferent or insincere. We cast ourselves into the darkness when we refuse God’s offer of friendship.Let us ask the Holy Spirit to help us become more aware of ways to pay attention to and say our yes to God’s invitation to friendship - the “eternal banquet”. One of the ways is our giving to the Archbishop’s Appeal which goes to further the good works God has entrusted to the church in the Archdi-ocese of Regina. Stewardship Bulletin Bit“My God will supply whatever you need…” - Philippians 4:19

God really does provide for those who are grateful and generous. This is very difficult for people that don’t live a stewardship lifestyle to believe. People are skeptical and say its just coincidence. If you are skeptical, try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts of time in prayer, talent in charitable works and treasure and see how God provides for your needs.

Saskatchewan Provincial Election – The organization Catholic Conscience (https://catholicconscience.org is working with Catholic dioceses across the province to offer information and resources during the Saskatchewan provincial election. The Catholic Action campaign is a non-partisan voter education initiative, centered on educating Catholic voters about Catholic social teaching and how that teaching relates to relevant political issues; along with mobilizing the Catholic community to get out and vote. The first Catholic Action campaign was held during the 2019 federal election, and included a range of resource materials such as “Conscience Cards,” one-page briefs on themes of Catholic social teaching and its relation to relevant election issues, and party platform comparisons from the perspective of Catholic teaching. Catholic Conscience’s latest Catholic Action campaign will help Saskatchewan Catholic voters prayerfully and thoughtfully discern their vote in this provincial election.
