The scope was to execute a FEED for the tie-back of four wells over 9 km to the existing platform. Challenge Following a concept select phase, the best available option was selected. The FEED project was to expand on the preferred concept and development layouts, process, flow assurance steady state and transient analysis. The project also included preliminary design of the pipeline and structures. Technical issues included reeled pipe-in-pipe, corrosion resistant metallurgy, HP/HT, insulation and pipeline system operation and shutdown. Solution Infinity’s multidiscipline project team consisting of flow assurance, process engineering, structural, pipelines and materials engineers were deployed on the project. Results Development and delivery of procurement specifications for the pipeline, fittings and fixtures, valves, spool fabrication, subsea structure fabrication, preliminary pipeline engineering and development of the major ITT packages delivered. Infinity delivered the project on time and within budget. Value Add Through experience gained on previous scopes, Infinity was able to propose and implement a substantial efficiency in overall project man-hours for the client. The saving was realised by kicking off the flow assurance and process review in advance of the pipeline and structures engineering. This enabled Infinity to select key system parameters prior to exhausting any hours on the subsea engineering. This also enabled the client to identify available hardware and equipment in the market and tune the system to its availability/lead-time.
