BackgroundAn independent E&P client engaged Infinityto support their development. The scopewastoexecuteaFEEDforthetie-backoffourwellsover9kmtotheexistingplatform.ChallengeFollowing a concept select phase, the bestavailable option was selected. The FEEDproject was to expand on the preferredconcept and development layouts, process,flow assurance steady state and transientanalysis. The project also includedpreliminary design of the pipeline andstructures.Technicalissuesincludedreeledpipe-in-pipe,corrosion resistant metallurgy, HP/HT,insulationandpipelinesystemoperationandshutdown.
SolutionInfinity’s multidiscipline project teamconsisting of flow assurance, processengineering, structural, pipelines andmaterials engineers were deployed on theproject.
ResultsDevelopment and delivery of procurementspecifications for the pipeline, fittings andfixtures, valves, spool fabrication, subseastructure fabrication, preliminary pipelineengineering and development of the majorITTpackagesdelivered. Infinitydeliveredtheprojectontimeandwithinbudget.
ValueAddThrough experience gained on previousscopes, Infinity was able to propose andimplement a substantial efficiency in overallprojectman-hoursfortheclient.The saving was realised by kicking off theflow assurance and process review inadvance of the pipeline and structuresengineering. This enabled Infinity to selectkey system parameters prior to exhaustingany hours on the subsea engineering. Thisalso enabled the client to identify availablehardware and equipment in themarket andtunethesystemtoitsavailability/lead-time.
