    Program Highlight: CRC-SI Next Generation SI Stream

    Increasing access to spatially organised information to support national growth. The Internet is

    developing powerful new capabilities as it moves to Web 3.0 technologies and standards.

    The CRCSI Program 3 team will showcase key research, and highlight significant semantic

    opportunities for organisations.

    Claire Foo

    Chief Information Officer, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning,

    Victoria Government

    Claire is the Chair of Program 3, will be chairing the Session and the Interactive Panel

    Discussion. As a Government CIO, PSMA Board Member and ANZLIC Councillor, Claire brings

    significant insight into the strategic and business challenges that need to be addressed in the

    next generation of Spatial Infrastructures.

    Dr Peter Woodgate

    Chief Executive Officer, CRC for Spatial Information

    What are the global growth areas for spatial and how are these going to benefit you and your

    business? Peter will provide a unique insight into a range of these growth areas and their

    potential impact on both the national and international landscape.

    Kylie Armstrong

    Director, Program 3, Department of Spatial Sciences, CRC for Spatial

    Information

    Geocoded addressing will continue to be a significant asset as we move to a digital economy.

    The CRCSI has been commissioned to review the supply chain to analyse the processes that

    take place and look at ways in which these could be optimised to provide the best possible

    end products. Kylie will present on the key findings from the review and discuss a range ofinitiatives that have been identified.

    Dr Geoff West

    Professor of Spatial Information, Department of Spatial Sciences, CRC for Spatial

    Information

    Geoff is the Science Director for Program 3 Spatial Infrastructures research in the CRCSI. He

    will outline the progress on the overall research plan, the current projects and participants. This

    will cover the integration of Semantic Web, Supply Chains and Artificial Intelligence research.

    He will also outline future directions and how the landscape is changing.

    Dr Lesley Arnold

    Research Fellow, Program 3, Department of Spatial Sciences, CRC for Spatial

    Information

    Lesleys research is developing a model that encapsulates the multifaceted nature of spatial

    data supply chains. Her aim is to improve the logistical management of data, increase

    productivity and realise value creation opportunities for the industry. She will describe how a

    National Supply Chain Framework (NSCF) will guide the collective effort of all participants tobetter meet the needs of the community for real-time nationwide spatial information.

    Dr David McMeekin

    Research Fellow, Program 3, CRC for Spatial Information

    Davids research is aimed at discovering and developing ways and methods to deliver spatiallyenabled data in real time to the end user. This research is developing new semantic web

    technologies and artificial intelligence in conjunction with existing ones so that the end user

    receives the relevant data in an appropriate timeframe with new knowledge embedded into it.

    He will detail how the different technologies are being applied.

    NICTA Secures Bronze Partnership with Locate15The organising committee of Locate15 welcomes NICTA (National ICT Australia Ltd) as Bronze

    Partners for Locate15. They will be exhibiting at the Exhibition at Stand 9.

    NICTA is Australias Information and Communications Technology Research Centre of

    Excellence. NICTA develops technologies that generate economic, social and environmental

    benefits for Australia.

    NICTA collaborates with industry on joint projects, creates new companies, and provides newtalent to the ICT sector through a NICTA-enhanced PhD program. With five laboratories

    around Australia and over 700 people, NICTA is the largest organisation in Australia dedicated

    to ICT research.

    NICTA is applying its expertise in geospatial data modelling and 3D visualisation to fast track

    the Governments Foundation Spatial Data Framework initiative.
