BECAUSE OF YOU...

Kyle BinghamCommercial Manager | Midwest

On July 8th 40 young men and ladies earned their Welding merit badge at Plumber’s Local 130. They learned about the good living they can make by pursuing this profession. WBBM Radio covered the story and highlighted the importance of addressing the shortage in the US.

When Scouts learn new skills it benefits them and their communities.

What was your upbringing like? I was fortunate enough to have grown up with a solid foundation in a great community with access to resources and support from family and leaders that allowed me to become the man I am today. Since moving to Chicago, I noticed the struggles and hardships that youth are enduring in underserved communities. Most importantly, they lack guidance from positive role models that is needed to have the same opportunities that I had. BECAUSE OF YOU...When earning your American Labor merit badge the history of the labor movement in our country can be a dry subject. When you learn it in the new Technology Center at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 by an experienced trainer it becomes an experience Scouts don’t forget.

When Scouts learn new skills it benefits them and their communities.
