INDIANAPOLIS RELOCATION GUIDETips for Finding a Roommate
ROOMMATES
What to Ask When Looking For a Roommate
• How much messiness can I tolerate in a roommate? Determine whether you are able to live in a slightly disorganized space, a spotless home, or with a lot of clutter, and let your roommate
know what he or she can expect from you.
• Will our schedules and habits be disruptive to one another? Do you prefer to stay up late and listen to music or watch TV? You may consider looking for a roommate who has the same habits so you don’t
bother one another’s sleep schedules.
• How will we split bills? Once you’ve narrowed down roommate options, discuss how you will share the cost of utilities, groceries, rent, and other costs.
Helpful Hint.
Ask the right questions.
Talk to your advisor to see if any other ABSN students are looking for a roommate.

Helpful Hint.
Getting a roommate is a great way to save money on your living expenses.
ROOMMATES
What to Ask When Looking For a Roommate
• Will my roommate be understanding of a busy and varied nursing schedule? You will be completing classwork, going to labs, and attending clinicals at varied hours. Make sure this won’t bother a potential roommate.
• Will I have the environment I need to complete my classwork at home? If you need silence and space to study, make sure you find a roommate who doesn’t distract you with too much chit-chat or a loud TV.
• Will you both be communicative? Remember, you are going to live with this person for the next 16 months. Make sure he or she talks to you about bills, problems, and other aspects to keep your living situation comfortable.
Let's get moving!
Helpful Hint.
Don’t rush into finding a roommate. Take your time to find someone you’ll be happy to live with.
ROOMMATES
Where to find a Roommate
• Facebook Private Group: Start with the Marian ABSN Facebook group. Many students will be starting in the same cohort who need a roommate.
• Your Advisor: Your advisor may know of other students who are looking for a roommate. Speak to him or her!
• Your Network: You may know people who are looking for a roommate without knowing it. Send out a status update, tweet, text, or call to find out if someone you know needs a roommate or knows of someone who does.
• Online: There are a couple of online options to look for roommates, such as RoomieMatch.com, EasyRoommate.com, and Roomester.com.
