Indiana University (IU) recently opened an international gateway office in Beijing, China. The office now serves as the university’s base of activities within the country. IU president, Michael McRobbie, who dedicated the office, also signed agreements with three of China’s top universities.

Agreements

As a consequence, IU’s Maurer School of Law is working with the China University of Political Science and Law to develop the Academy for the Study of Chinese Law and Comparative Judicial Systems. The academy will facilitate exchanges of research among the institutions’ faculty members.

The other agreements are between IU and Tsinghua University, and between IU and Beijing Sport University. The latter partnership is seen as particularly vital, given BSU’s stature in the world of sports. Numerous former students and faculty of the institution have earned gold medals in the Olympics.
