Indiana Geriatrics Society American Geriatrics Society 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting If you were not able to attend the annual American Geriatrics Society’s annual meeting, you missed a lot! One of the highlights was seeing Dr. Rappaport accept the award for IGS for the Public Policy Grassroots Program Award. Mark your calendars now for 2010 for AGS in Orlando Florida at the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Hotel Wednesday, May 12 thru Saturday May 15. The Annual Indiana Dinner night during the AGS conference was a great success with a total of 30 attending on Thursday evening, April 30th. See if you recognize anyone on the next page! Indiana Geriatrics Society’s Business Meeting 3rd Annual Spring Dinner Meeting March 12, 2009 Our 3rd Annual Spring Dinner Meeting was an evening to remember! Based upon the elections here is the new listing of the IGS Board Members: President: Steve Rappaport, MD Vice-President: Ella Bowman, MD, PhD Secretary: Kathy Segrist, PhD Treasurer: Noll Campbell, Pharm D, CGP Member-at-Large: John S. Kelly, Jr. MC, FACP Chairperson Educational Program Planning Committee: Raji Majety, MD Chairperson Education Committee: Tamara Wolske, MS Chairperson Public Policy Committee: Michael Sha, MD IGS COSAR Representative: Kathy Frank, RN, DNS We had our first board meeting on March 23, 2009, where we discussed membership, finances, annual spring dinner meeting, plans for fall conference, and future activities. The second IGS Board meeting was June 22, 2009 6-7pm. Our next board meeting is scheduled for Sept 21, 2009. If you would like to see the minutes from the meetings or if you would like to attend a board meeting, please contact Kathy Frank at katfrank.iupui.edu . It would be great to double our group size next year. The IGS member who recruits the most new members this year will get a free dinner at our 2010 gathering at the AGS con- ference in 2010 in Orlando.

The Education Committee for 2009 consists of the following members: Tamara Wolske (Chairperson), Glenda Westmoreland, MD, MPH, (Past Chairper-son) Keven Dodt, MD, Shannon Joyce, MD, Arif Nazir, MD Ella Bowman, MD, PhD, and Steve Rappaport, MD. Their first big task is to design the new IGS website. They had their first meeting on May 15, 2009 and have developed a basic plan for the implementation.
