It will begin on Sunday October 15th with registration at 430pm and end on Tuesday
October 17th with closing communion at 11am The total cost of the event is $200 per person
for double occupancy and $260 per person for single occupancy This includes your lodging
either in Washington Lodge or The Inn and it includes Sunday dinner three meals on Monday

For our first Clergy College we will welcome as our instructor Dr Steve Martyn who is the
Associate Professor of Spiritual Formation at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore
Kentucky Dr Martyn will join us for five teaching sessions which he has entitled ldquoFocused
Ministry Fulfilling Godrsquos Purposes for the Churchrdquo This will be a retreat that seeks to assist
clergy to step into their deepest callings as leaders of our Lordrsquos Body The retreat will center on
the leadership role of clergy (in our Wesleyan tradition) in the worship discipleship and
missional life of the church
Clergy College is open to all clergy and CEUrsquos will be offered according to our Annual
Conferencersquos policies There will be 34 of 1 CEU offered based on 75 hours of instruction

15K Military-Style Ruck MarchWalk in honor of our local fallen heroes and to end Veteran
homelessness It will take place on Sunday Oct 15 2017 with Registration at 1 pm with the
Ruck starting at 2 pm at Presque Isle State Park Beach 11 Erie Online registration will begin in
early July
Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to
donate to Liberty House (such as menrsquos hygiene products paper products laundry and
cleaning supplies linens and blankets towels etc) Drop-off boxes to unload your donations will
be located at the finish line

PA The purpose of this workshop is to support the Conference Core Values and one of our Five

The goals of this workshop are not limited to but expect that attendees will better be able to

Your Ministry of Leading Worship 101 Online Course Dates
November 6 ndash December 8 2017 Would you like to prepare to do ldquopulpit supplyrdquo or lead
worship with your pastor This course will focus on basic understandings of worship gaining
skills for Lay Servants planning and leading worship and fulfill requirements for Lay Speaker
Certification Particular emphasis will be given to studentsrsquo role in relation to other leaders and

It will begin on Sunday October 15th with registration at 430pm and end on Tuesday
October 17th with closing communion at 11am The total cost of the event is $200 per person
for double occupancy and $260 per person for single occupancy This includes your lodging

For our first Clergy College we will welcome as our instructor Dr Steve Martyn who is the
Associate Professor of Spiritual Formation at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore
Kentucky Dr Martyn will join us for five teaching sessions which he has entitled ldquoFocused
Ministry Fulfilling Godrsquos Purposes for the Churchrdquo This will be a retreat that seeks to assist
clergy to step into their deepest callings as leaders of our Lordrsquos Body The retreat will center on
the leadership role of clergy (in our Wesleyan tradition) in the worship discipleship and
missional life of the church
Clergy College is open to all clergy and CEUrsquos will be offered according to our Annual
Conferencersquos policies There will be 34 of 1 CEU offered based on 75 hours of instruction

15K Military-Style Ruck MarchWalk in honor of our local fallen heroes and to end Veteran
homelessness It will take place on Sunday Oct 15 2017 with Registration at 1 pm with the
Ruck starting at 2 pm at Presque Isle State Park Beach 11 Erie Online registration will begin in
early July
Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to
donate to Liberty House (such as menrsquos hygiene products paper products laundry and
cleaning supplies linens and blankets towels etc) Drop-off boxes to unload your donations will
be located at the finish line

November 6 ndash December 8 2017 Would you like to prepare to do ldquopulpit supplyrdquo or lead
worship with your pastor This course will focus on basic understandings of worship gaining
skills for Lay Servants planning and leading worship and fulfill requirements for Lay Speaker

Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only

PA The purpose of this workshop is to support the Conference Core Values and one of our Five
Areas of Focus Developing principled Christian leaders for the church and the world
The goals of this workshop are not limited to but expect that attendees will better be able to
use the Conference website to find forms and various documents they need to better serve their

In the mid-1700s Southwestern Pennsylvania was the global epicenter for a dramatic series of

November 6 ndash December 8 2017 Would you like to prepare to do ldquopulpit supplyrdquo or lead
worship with your pastor This course will focus on basic understandings of worship gaining
skills for Lay Servants planning and leading worship and fulfill requirements for Lay Speaker

The next Orientation to Ministry sponsored by the Conference Board of Ministry will be
held on Saturday January 6 2018 at Christ UMC in Franklin from 930 ndash noon
The Orientation is a requirement for anyone pursuing licensed or ordained ministry However
this initial gathering is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the various types of
set-apart ministry that exist within the United Methodist Church Information will be presented

For our first Clergy College we will welcome as our instructor Dr Steve Martyn who is the
Associate Professor of Spiritual Formation at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore

Ministry Fulfilling Godrsquos Purposes for the Churchrdquo This will be a retreat that seeks to assist
clergy to step into their deepest callings as leaders of our Lordrsquos Body The retreat will center on
the leadership role of clergy (in our Wesleyan tradition) in the worship discipleship and
missional life of the church
Clergy College is open to all clergy and CEUrsquos will be offered according to our Annual
Conferencersquos policies There will be 34 of 1 CEU offered based on 75 hours of instruction

15K Military-Style Ruck MarchWalk in honor of our local fallen heroes and to end Veteran
homelessness It will take place on Sunday Oct 15 2017 with Registration at 1 pm with the
Ruck starting at 2 pm at Presque Isle State Park Beach 11 Erie Online registration will begin in
early July
Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to
donate to Liberty House (such as menrsquos hygiene products paper products laundry and
cleaning supplies linens and blankets towels etc) Drop-off boxes to unload your donations will
be located at the finish line

15K Military-Style Ruck MarchWalk in honor of our local fallen heroes and to end Veteran
homelessness It will take place on Sunday Oct 15 2017 with Registration at 1 pm with the

Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to

clergy to step into their deepest callings as leaders of our Lordrsquos Body The retreat will center on
the leadership role of clergy (in our Wesleyan tradition) in the worship discipleship and
missional life of the church
Clergy College is open to all clergy and CEUrsquos will be offered according to our Annual

Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to

November 6 ndash December 8 2017 Would you like to prepare to do ldquopulpit supplyrdquo or lead
worship with your pastor This course will focus on basic understandings of worship gaining
skills for Lay Servants planning and leading worship and fulfill requirements for Lay Speaker
Certification Particular emphasis will be given to studentsrsquo role in relation to other leaders and
the congregation
All students are expected to have or have access to The United Methodist Hymnal (1989)
and The United Methodist Book of Worship (1992) All other course materials are included as
downloads in the course Price $8500 This course is eligible for 10 CEU Enroll now

this initial gathering is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the various types of

Proceeds will benefit Erie United Methodist Alliancersquos (EUMA) Liberty House the only
transitional housing program in Erie County specifically for homeless Veterans The house is a
safe haven for the men who protected our freedom and are now in need of a new beginning
Ruck the Bay participants will complete the 15K (or optional 5K) carrying a loaded
rucksackbackpack and will observe memorials at every kilometer honoring those who have lost
their lives in service to our country Participants are encouraged to fill their rucksack with items to

November 3-4 2017 Passion Spies Murder and Intrigue How Western PA Events Ignited a
World War
In the mid-1700s Southwestern Pennsylvania was the global epicenter for a dramatic series of
ldquobetter than fictionrdquo events that ultimately defined our modern world In 2017 the Braddock
Road Preservation Association (BRPA) revisits the actual sites stories and people behind these
events
ldquoAs one of the largest seminars on this topic in the country this event continues to attract
more scholars experts and history fans each year The Jumonville venue ndash and all the sites we visit

November 6 ndash December 8 2017 Would you like to prepare to do ldquopulpit supplyrdquo or lead
worship with your pastor This course will focus on basic understandings of worship gaining
skills for Lay Servants planning and leading worship and fulfill requirements for Lay Speaker
Certification Particular emphasis will be given to studentsrsquo role in relation to other leaders and
the congregation
All students are expected to have or have access to The United Methodist Hymnal (1989)
and The United Methodist Book of Worship (1992) All other course materials are included as

this initial gathering is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the various types of

Each year a group of youth and young adults from the Northeastern Jurisdiction travel shortly
after Christmas on a Mission of Peace to another area of the globe Applications are available
now for the 2018 MOP to Cuba Itrsquos scheduled from about December 28 2017- January 12
2018 Applications are due to Greg Cox by Feb 1 2017 Get application
JANUARY
Orientation to Ministry
The next Orientation to Ministry sponsored by the Conference Board of Ministry will be
held on Saturday January 6 2018 at Christ UMC in Franklin from 930 ndash noon
The Orientation is a requirement for anyone pursuing licensed or ordained ministry However
this initial gathering is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the various types of
set-apart ministry that exist within the United Methodist Church Information will be presented
about the broad range of opportunities including CLM professional certification local pastor
and ordained ministry
Registration is required and is available at the conference website (wwwwpaumcorg) under
ldquoEventsrdquo There is no registration fee Any questions should be sent to Rev Janet Lord

Bahamas Mission Team
Anyone over age 18 is invited to join a team that will travel January 7-13 2018 and serve in
home repair community ministry andor disaster response Bahamas Methodist Habitat staff
have just returned to Eleuthera and are evaluating projects in Bahamas and other parts of the
Caribbean Cost is $1400 Young adults under 35 are eligible for a $500 discount Apply by
October 10th by sending the WPA VIM Team application to Missions Coordinator Stephanie
