GTU Smart City E-Newsletter Issue XXVI Date : 15-04-2017 To «Full Name» [Unique Id : «Uniq ID Number»] GTU News SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2017 on 1 st - 2 nd April, 2017 In order to work towards our PMs Digital India mission, Ministry of HRD, All India Council for Tech- nical Education (AICTE) propose the Smart India Hackathon 2017, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. This initiative aims to institutionalize a model for harnessing the creativity and technical expertise of 3.0 + million stu- dents for direct benefit of our nation . Smart India Hackathon 2017 will be a computer programming competition which will involve all Engi- neering colleges with a reach to approximately 30 Lakh students from across India. This is planned to chal- lenge the students to think out of the-box and offer innovative ideas to build smart applications which will help address major real time problems in our country. Gujarat University and Gujarat Technological University are collaboratively working to make this unique initiative successful. Smart City Mission: List of 40 Smart Cities to be Announced Soon by the End of June Under the Narendra Modi governments flagship scheme–Smart City Mission launched on June 25, 2015, the mission aims to develop 100 smart cities across the country in a five-year period. The government has earmarked Rs 48,000 crore for the development of these cities.The Urban Development Ministry will an- nounce the list of 40 smart cities by June-end. Each selected city will be given Rs 500 crore over a period of five years by the Centre with the respective states expected to make the matching contribution. So far, 60 cities have been selected for the scheme and the remaining 40 cities would be announced by June end, an official said. Read More ... On Friday this proposal will be sent to the Union Urban Development Ministry. After several amendments, the final proposal of 2822 crores has been prepared. This proposal was presented to UP Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar last week. Consulting firm KPMGs experts have also finalized the proposal after approving Proposal with Lucknow. SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2017 on 1st

In order to work towards our PM’s Digital India mission, Ministry of HRD, All India Council for Tech-

nical Education (AICTE) propose the Smart India Hackathon 2017, a unique initiative to identify new and

disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. This initiative

aims to institutionalize a model for harnessing the creativity and technical expertise of 3.0 + million stu-

dents for direct benefit of our nation .

Smart City Mission: List of 40 Smart Cities to be Announced Soon by the End of June

Under the Narendra Modi government’s flagship scheme–Smart City Mission launched on June 25, 2015,

the mission aims to develop 100 smart cities across the country in a five-year period. The government has

earmarked Rs 48,000 crore for the development of these cities.The Urban Development Ministry will an-
