Winter Auto X
Yes, you read that correctly, a Winter Auto-x. February 4th, I’m meeting folks at the McDonalds in Monument @ 4:00
p.m.
From there, we run up to 8532 Concord Center Drive, Englewood, CO
80112.
Each race is 12 laps, and they offer 3 races for $50.00.
Now, I’ll call them and see if they offer group rates, but, I need to know
how many is in our “group”.
They are open Saturday 10am – Midnight.
You will not have to bring anything, however, Rik recommends that you
wear something thick to cushion your neck and shoulders.
Now that sounds intense!!!
If you’d like to look at their Web site, it’s

Thanks, in advance, YRH

Governors Corner As promised, this month’s topic is “Car Shows”. There are two basic types – People’s Choice Concours, (aka PC show), and Concours D ‘Elegance (more commonly called Concours). PC shows are the most common and the easiest to organize. Class designation is left to the Host club. Voting by Entrants and spectators selects the winners. All Entrants earn 3 points. Easy-peasy. Concours categorizes cars into groups: Concours Prepared, Modified, Street show, Wash and Show, Race Prepared, Custom, and Exhibi-tion. Concours, Modified, Custom, and Race Prepared are separated by the number and type of modifications made to the car (a form helps classify the cars). Street show, and Wash and Show are set aside for folks that drive their car regularly, that wish to participate, but perhaps not put a lot of effort into cleaning. For most of the groups, the groups are further broken down into classes based upon year: 1953-1962, 1963-1967, 1968-1977, 1978-1982, 1984-1996, 1997-2004, 2005-up. Champion points vary for the different groups, and number of cars in the class. The exception to all of this is the Exhibition class. There one group, no classes, and all Entrants earn 3 points. If you are chasing Champion points, aim for Concours, Modified, Custom, and Race Prepared. If you don’t care create a sparkling car, or about the points – ask for Exhibi-tion. Govna wayne As always, these are the thoughts of Wayne Umland, and may not re-flect the views of CSCC, NCCC or RMR.

NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM At the January 5, 2012 CSCC meeting at Daniels Long, Patty Swindale asked me where the NCM was located and said that she knew very little about the museum. It got me to thinking that maybe some of you are not familiar with the museum and what it offers. I will try to correct that by giving short (5 minutes or less) presentations at the monthly meetings. I will also continue to bring you news of the museum though the monthly newsletter column. You can also go the NCM website at www.corvettemuseum.org. to learn the latest infor-mation. Trial Membership in the NCM The Trial membership program is designed as a way for new Corvette owners to be introduced to the National Corvette Museum. The post card sized applica-tion can be found in the owner’s manual of every new Corvette and is also men-tioned on the DVD. This offer is valid on new memberships only and cannot be used as a renewal. Corvette owners will need to mail in the post card to take advantage of their new membership. If you have questions regarding the free trial membership program, contact me so I can get the correct information from the NCM to share with the club members. I have returned the raffle ticket stubs to the NCM for the drawing this February 2, our next monthly meeting date at Daniels Long. Hopefully I can announce a club member was the winner. I should have new tickets for the next raffle at the February meeting. If any of you are planning a trip to Bowling Green within the next three months to visit the corvette assembly plant, be advised that the plant tours will not be available on February 1 -3, 10, 17, and 24; March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30; April 6, 13, 20, and 27. The NCM ambassador contact has requested that the ambassadors prepare a short paragraph about their clubs to share with other ambassadors. I will be doing that shortly and will include it in a future newsletter column Barrett Benson CSCC Ambassador
