Message from the Regent
Dear CDA Sisters!
We are so glad to have this opportunity to tell you how truly blessed we
have been by your presence, prayers and service these past two years. It
doesn’t seem possible that two years has passed, and our term as your
board is over. We’ve all talked and commented what a wonderful
experience it has been for each of us. We’ve learned and laughed a lot!
At our first meeting I asked you to answer as Isaiah did in Isaiah 6:8 when he
responded, “Here I am Lord. Send me.”

YOU have made such a difference to so many of God’s people by your
willingness to serve. Unity and Charity!
Message from the Regent Cont…..
Even though we will no longer be your CDA officers, we all plan to be active CDA members and will be there to support the new board in every way we can. This summer will be a transition period, and your new board will be prepared and ready to go! Pray for them and in thanksgiving for their willingness to serve. Please continue to prayerfully consider what you will do to help next year!!! Don’t be shy, let them know! There will be plenty of jobs that need to be done. Remember there will be NO meeting in June and July, and our next meeting will be August 30th. However, volunteer opportunities, baby shower (July 28th), first Friday rosary, and Daughters of Charity, will continue this summer. We are so proud and honored to have served our court and appreciate ALL your help, prayers, volunteering and enthusiasm! You made our jobs easier!!!!
Prayers and blessings for a safe and restful summer.

Jesuit Refugee Services in San Antonio
Father Kevin has informed us that he will leave Uganda in July and be assigned
to JRS Headquarters in Washington D.C. Please continue to pray for him. Ourspiritual and financial support has helped him serve the many refugees in Kampala,Uganda. One example, is the tuition assistance we provided to helpadults attend literacy classes.
A young refugee shows his delight in learning to read for the first time.
REFLECTION CORNER
I would like to reflect on the Lukan Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary within the 5 Joyful Mysteries of our
meditative devotional the Rosary because all 5 of these mysteries are a form of visitation for Mary & a calling to us
also. The 1st mystery is a visitation by the Archangel Gabriel to Mary to invite her to become the mother of God. God also
sends us messengers in various forms throughout our lives to reveal our individual roles in salvation history. Like Mary we
need to give our fiat, so our gift of free will is gifted back to God to fulfill his heart’s desire for us with an attitude of humility
& obedience. In the 2nd mystery Mary hastened to Judah to visit her elderly cousin, Elizabeth, out of active concern for her
late pregnancy & to share the extraordinary news of her own miraculous conception. We are all called in our own way to
bring Jesus to others. Jesus is always with us, & this gift & blessing we are met to share with others we meet throughout
our lives. During the 3rd mystery out of absolute love God the son became Emmanuel & came to earth to visit us by
becoming one of us, a true form of humility. We are called to welcome him into our hearts through the gift of true poverty of
spirit. During the 4thmystery, to fulfill the mosaic law, Jesus visits the Temple when he is brought there by Mary & Joseph
during the Purification Ceremony to be dedicated to the Lord. We visit our Church so our active sacramental life will bind
us to God in love & to receive the necessary grace to be able to carry Jesus out to the world. The 5th & final mystery is
Mary & Joseph finding the lost Jesus in the Temple. The Temple can be a metaphor for our heart. When we feel
separated from Jesus or abandoned by Jesus look for him within the depth of our heart where he dwells through the grace
of the Holy Spirit. We cannot live without our hearts where Jesus dwells so we are never really alone just turn inward in
prayer to find him.
For reflection: I suggest we visit with our indwelling visitor the Holy Spirit tonight & pray about taking Jesus Christ on a visit to others tomorrow.

I hail from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I completed Catholic grade school
and high school, and my undergraduate degree there, at Millersville University. I also
completed ROTC in college and entered into a 28 year adventure on active duty in the
Army Medical Service Corps.
My military career highlights include assignments in medical and dental health care
delivery, education and training, and medical research and development. I was very
fortunate to have many life experiences in intriguing locations such as Korea, Germany,
Thailand, and the Pentagon. My greatest life experience was in the Pentagon, where I
was introduced to my husband Pat. We will celebrate our 18th Wedding Anniversary in
June. Pat completed 26 years of active duty in the Army Corps of Engineers. Pat and I
both had our last duty assignments at Fort Sam Houston. We both became Department
of the Army civilians and we are both currently working for the Army Installation
Management Command at Ft Sam. My civilian experience is primarily in project
management. I will complete my government service on 3 Aug 18. Pat will continue to
serve for a few more years.
We decided to retire in San Antonio for many reasons. It provided us the opportunity to
develop roots in a conservative and patriotic community, with excellent services and a
strong faith base. We can also easily enjoy our interests in gardening, birding and travel,
not to mention the rodeo, Spurs, and the many events at the Tobin and Majestic. Our
lives our rounded out by the antics and love of our Cats.
O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And you healed me. Psalm 30.2 Page 7

SOME THOUGHTS TO CONSIDER
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
If you can smile when things go wrong, you probably have someone in mind to blame.
The easiest way to find something that’s lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
