It comes from Panigale, but it’s not a stripped Panigale. The Streetfighter V4 brings

all the SBK technology to the street. Extreme? The numbers say yes, but driving it

you’ll find that it’s much more than that...

The Panigale V4 stripped of the fairings, with a high and wide handlebar, 178 kg on the scale, powered by 1100 cc Desmosedici Stradale

delivering 208 hp kept in hand by biplane wings and a complete electronic package: This is the “Fight Formula” that gives life to the Streetfighter V4. The result is a naked bike with an emotional design, which does nothing to hide its high performances.

The full-LED headlight captures the spirit of the Streetfighter V4 perfectly: Recalling the front of the Panigale V4, it also evokes the grin of the Joker (the comic strip char-acter from which the designer of the new naked drew inspiration). True Ducati design is also evident in the V-shaped DRL, already

featured on the Panigale V4 and SuperSport. On the Streetfighter, the Front Frame and

Desmosedici Stradale engine take centre-stage. Only partially screened by superstruc-tures that have been cut to a bare minimum, their sharp lines create a clean, essential whole. The low, lunging front end flows out from the tank, giving the Streetfighter the look of a predator coiled for the pounce.

In keeping with streetfighter culture, the clip-on handlebars have been replaced with a high, wide bar that, together with a moder-ated footpeg position, make the riding posi-tion sporty yet agile, perfect for ripping up the road.

Such powerful design demands a power-ful engine, and the 1103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale 208 hp fits the bill: for a naked, it

packs an impressive punch, yet dedicated engine map-ping lets the rider control the power with confidence.

The engine - combined with a kerb weight of 178 kg (of the “S” version) - takes the power/weight ratio to 1.17. Performance can be further improved by mounting the full-racing Ducati Perform-

ance exhaust by Akrapovic, which boosts power to 220 hp and reduces weight by 6 kg.

Feisty Streetfighter V4 performance is kept under control by electronics lifted directly from the Panigale V4 and the ‘biplane’ wings developed by Ducati Corse aerodynamicists.

Brought forward to max-imise their effect, the wings generate 28 kg of downforce at 270 kph, attenuating front wheel ‘floating’ at high speed and the tendency to wheel-up. They also boost stability during braking at the turn-in point and through the corner.

On the road, this dynamic

behaviour instils confidence. On the track, instead, it boosts performance by limit-ing electronic control inter-vention and allowing delayed braking.

The latest generation electronics package on the Streetfighter V4 is based on a 6-axis Inertial Measurement

Unit (6D IMU) which instant-ly detects the bike’s roll, yaw and pitch angles. The elec-tronics oversee every part of the ride: some controls manage start, acceleration and braking, others handle traction, while some lend a helping hand on corners and out-of-the-corner stretches.

An S version of the Street-fighter V4 is also available. This features Marchesini forged wheels and Öhlins electrically controlled sus-pension (43 mm NIX30 forks and TTX36 monoshock) and steering damper. The latter use the second-generation Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system

which, in addition to making full use of the IMU 6D, pro-vides a more rider-friendly interface.

ErgonomicsCompared to the Panigale

V4, the riding position - with an above-ground height of 845 mm - has been redefined as per the specifications of a naked model. In keeping with streetfighter culture, the semi-handlebars have been

replaced by a high, wide bar that, together with a seat with 60 mm of foam thik-ness and moderated footpeg position, ensures sports-style comfort during inner city rides and the control needed to tackle country roads or racetracks.

While maintaining many of the Panigale’s stylistic fea-tures, the tail is supported by a steel subframe and has been redesigned to enhance

passenger comfort and give the rider more lengthways space.

Biplane wingsFast, agile mixed-road per-

formance demands maxi-mum stability at high speed and when braking, reduced wheel-up during acceleration and minimised electronic control of the suspension set-up: That’s why Ducati Corse specialists have, together

with the Ducati Style Centre, developed biplane wings for the Streetfighter V4.

The aerodynamics were developed using CFD (Com-putational Fluid Dynamics) simulation. The calculation method involved stationary

simulation of flow and pres-sure to achieve increased downforce, especially on the front wheel.

To reduce lateral protru-sion as much as possible, the aerodynamics team decided to adopt a ‘biplane’ configu-

ration of limited ‘wingspan’ with upper and lower wings working independently. Each appendage can be described as a square-plan mono-wing with a winglet on its outer tip. Moreover, the wings have been positioned as close as

Page 8: In this issue · case of the front cylinder bank and the cylinder head of the rear bank; the V4 crankcase also provides the rear suspension attachment ... able Ducati touch in some

14 MD DOSSIER JULY 00 JULY 00 MD DOSSIER 15

possible to the front wheel (near the radiator side pan-els) to maximise the anti wheel-up effect.

These aerodynamic append-ages generate 28 kg of down-force at 270 kph (20 kg on the front wheel, 8 kg on the rear). The wings also help draw heat off the engine by increasing water and oil radiator throughflow speeds by 2% and 10% respectively.

Wing-generated downforce attenuates front wheel ‘float-ing’ at high speed and the

tendency to wheel-up. It also improves stability during braking at the turn-in point and through the corner.

The aerodynamics thus instil confidence and limit intervention by electronic controls.

This helps the rider keep the throttle open longer and brake later going into the bends, providing significant performance benefits.

EngineThe new Streetfighter V4

is powered by a 1103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale engine. In this configuration the 90° V4 delivers 208 hp (153 kW) at 12,750 rpm, an unrivalled power level within the naked segment, perfectly in keeping with the all-out character of the new Streetfighter V4.

Maximum torque is 123 Nm (12.5 kgm) at 11,500 rpm, practically unchanged with respect to the Panigale V4.

Dedicated engine mapping lets riders safely make the

Page 9: In this issue · case of the front cylinder bank and the cylinder head of the rear bank; the V4 crankcase also provides the rear suspension attachment ... able Ducati touch in some

most of Streetfighter V4 per-formance on the road.

The final ratio, shorter than that of the Panigale V4, deliv-ers a wheel torque higher of +10%, which ensures an immediate response to the throttle command.

Front-FrameThe Streetfighter V4 fea-

tures the Front-Frame - an offshoot of Ducati’s exten-sive experience in MotoGP - which uses the Desmo-sedici Stradale engine as a load-bearing member.

Compared to traditional perimeter frames the main lay-out difference is that the engine is used as a structural chassis element.

Weighing just 4 kg, the com-pact Front-Frame is attached directly to the upper crank-

case of the front cylinder bank and the cylinder head of the rear bank; the V4 crankcase also provides the rear suspension attachment point and the single-sided swingarm pivot mount.

The key advantage of the Ducati Front-Frame is that

it uses the Desmosedici Stradale engine to achieve the desired stiffness: This has resulted in significantly lower main frame length and weight and a better stiffness/weight ratio.

Moreover, the struts along-side the engine have been

shortened, making bike design more compact, espe-cially in the rider’s seat area.

Completing the chassis is the under-seat Trellis sub-frame, attached to the Front-Frame at the top and bolted to the head of the rear cylin-der bank below.

The rear suspension link-age mechanism is attached to the Desmosedici Stradale engine via a forged aluminium bracket. The linkage reacts to movements imparted by a cast aluminium high-truss swingarm. Steering geometry features a 24.5° rake and 100 mm trail.

ElectronicsThe latest generation

electronics package on the Streetfighter V4 is based on a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU) which instant-ly detects the bike’s roll, yaw and pitch angles.

The electronics package has controls for every part

of the ride: some oversee start, acceleration and brak-ing, others govern traction and others again lend a help-ing hand on corners and out-of-the-corner stretches.

ABS Cornering EVO; Duca-ti Traction Control EVO 2; Ducati Slide Control; Duca-ti Wheelie Control EVO;

Ducati Power Launch; Ducati Quick Shift up/down EVO 2; Engine Brake Control EVO; Ducati Electronic Suspension EVO

Operational parameters for each of these controls are associated by default with the

three Streetfighter V4 Riding Modes. Riders can personal-ise parameters to suit their riding style or restore Ducati factory settings. DTC, DWC, DSC or EBC control levels can be adjusted quickly via the left switchgear.

TestHandling is a discipline in

which the Streetfighter V4 excels especially in corner entry and direction changes, where it seems to have an extra gear compared to its direct competitors.

The flip side of the coin comes from a seemingly less planted front end, but it has to be said that it never becomes unstable or danc-ing.

The V4 remains solid, even at high speed, a situation where the wings push down,

but the body exposed to the air doesn’t help.

The new Ducati Street-fighter is therefore a road bike, not only by definition but also by real possibility of use.

That doesn’t mean the per-formance isn’t exceptional.

The V4 in the bass and mid-range is mellow, holds up to sixth at speeds below 3,000 rpm and never recalcitrant; around 8,000 starts the good stuff, over 10,000 rpm it con-tinues to push with unforget-table and objectively exciting vehemence, stretching like

no naked bike can do. The ratios are short, very, and lead to use the engine often around 6,000 rpm.

Excellent braking, not too aggressive in the first phase but with a considerable reserve of power and more than adequate in all situa-tions of use.

In conclusion, the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 S will not only be a protagonist of excit-ing challenges on the track, but will also have

its say on the road, thanks to an approach finally oriented to usability and (relative) ease of use.

All this without forgetting the performance, which is of the highest level.

The critical points? The limited steering angle, which always requires “extra manoeu-vring”, and the almost non-existent protec-tion from the air.

Ducati presents the new Hypermotard 950 RVE, which is part of the Borgo Panigale fun-bike family between the entry model

Hypermotard 950 and the top of the range Hypermotard 950 SP.

The Hypermotard 950 RVE is characterized by a livery called “Graffiti” that is inspired by street art.

The bike builds on the success achieved in 2019, especially on social media, by the Hypermotard 950 Concept presented at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

Wanting to transfer the same manufactur-ing quality of the concept bike from which it derives to the production motorcycle, it was necessary in the painting phases, to employ highly skilled labour, use very low thickness decals and adopt a particularly long and complex process. The result is comparable to that of an airbrushed bodywork.

Not only graphics, but also a standard equipment upgrade for this new version. The electronic package of the Hypermotard 950 RVE is enhanced by the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO, which is added to the components already present in

the standard version, namely Bosch Cornering ABS with Slide by Brake function (in setting 1), Ducati Traction Control Evo (DTC EVO) and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO.

The Hypermotard 950 is the fun-bike par excellence of the Ducati range and is

designed to guarantee a high level of fun and control while riding.

The aggressive design of the bike, inspired by the motard look, revolves around the twin exhausts under the seat and the smaller super-structures that leave the mechanical components vis-

ible, including the trellis rear frame that communicates lightness and essentiality.

Ergonomics ensure the rider maximum responsive-ness in all conditions.

The seat is flat, particu-larly tapered to ensure wide movement and allows you to touch the ground with ease.

The Hypermotard 950 RVE is powered by the twin-cyl-inder 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine, which with its 114 hp at 9,000 rpm and 9.8 kgm of torque, of which over 80% is already available at 3,000

rpm, is the perfect engine to offer maximum fun both in sports riding on the track or on roads full of curves and in everyday riding on urban stretches.

At the top of the Hypermo-

tard 950 range is the Hyper-motard 950 SP with racing graphics and Öhlins suspen-sion with increased travel, Marchesini forged rims and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO.

The result of close collabo-ration between the Ducati Design Center and Scuderia Club Italia is a limited-edi-tion motorcycle intended

exclusively for members of this venerable association.

Scuderia Club Italia is a sports-cultural association, founded in 1989 by vintage/rac-ing car drivers, connoisseurs and enthusiasts. Its members - no more than eighty as per the association’s statute - are united by a burning passion for automobiles.

Club Italia does much to promote Italian

cars through sporting events or by attend-ing key shows. What’s more, it designs and develops original versions of cars and motor-cycles.

Development of this special Scrambler Ducati Club Italia series comes as a follow-up to a previous joint design by Bologna-based Ducati and the Scuderia: back in 1995 the partnership produced thirty-six “Mon-ster 900 Club Italia” bikes, now sought-after collector’s items.

Built on the technical foundation of the Scrambler Ducati 1100 Sport PRO, the Scrambler Ducati Club Italia features unique

graphics and a wealth of accessories, making it the most exclusive Scrambler ever built by Ducati.

Design highlights on this “special” include the red leather seat by Poltrona Frau with embroidered Club Italia logo and the metallic blue tank with bright red side panels, topped off by the

Giugiaro-designed Ducati logo.

The frame has the same metallic blue finish as the tank, while the rear subframe comes in natural aluminium.

The front and rear fend-ers are in aluminium with a tricolour finish. Spoked wheels (with black rims and spokes) complete the bike’s

eye-catching character. Moreover, an aluminium

plaque on the frame identi-fies the series number.

To create this special ver-sion, the Scrambler Ducati 1100 Sport PRO technical platform has been enhanced with type-approved Termi-gnoni titanium silencers and a billet aluminium tank cap, the

underside of which sports the Club Italia shield logo.

The LED indicator bodies are in billet aluminium, as are the brake and clutch levers, brake and clutch fluid reser-

voir covers, frame plugs and footpegs.

A headlight mesh guard gives the front end of the Scrambler Ducati Club Ita-lia an assertive, original feel,

while heated grips offer comfort and practicality in the colder months.

Association members were given an exclusive preview of the Scrambler Ducati Club

“When you get the chance to work alongside people who share your passion for beauti-fully-made things, for engines and for Italy, enormous satisfac-tion with the resulting work and the final outcome is virtually guaranteed - commented the

head of the Ducati Design Center, Andrea Ferraresi - The Scrambler Ducati Club Italia demonstrates this won-derfully. It represents a per-fect balance of sportiness, style and attention to detail. Together with the members of the Scu-deria Club Italia we chose just the right tone of blue, the

material for the saddle, the logo and the special equip-ment package. Nothing was left to chance. Every alteration was meticulously assessed and shared. The icing on the cake was being able to present this inimitable bike to Club mem-bers in person, together with

Giulio Malagoli, Ducati Product Marketing Director”.

Moreover, the Ducati-Scu-deria Club Italia partner-ship goes beyond creating exceptional bikes: it also involves donations destined for the fight against Covid-19. For each bike purchased

by an association member, in fact, 500 euros will go to the #raceagainstCovid, the Ducati-organised fund-raising scheme designed to help the S. Orsola Hospital in Bologna provide effective convales-cence for those recovering from Covid-19.

The colour range of the Pani-gale V2 is extended with the new White Rosso live-ry, which goes alongside the monochromatic Ducati Red

livery with which the bike was presented last November.

The new White Rosso livery has Star White Silk as its main colour. The predominance of

white enhances the design of the Panigale V2, highlighting the lines and the purity of the geometrical shapes. At the same time the details in Ducati Red emphasize its sporty and powerful character.

The Ducati Red colours the rims, the front air intakes and the deflectors of the upper half-fairings.

pany the path of the airflows inside the motorcycle, i.e. those that feed the engine and those that pass through the radiator.

This new livery is complet-ed with an additional touch of sportiness thanks to the positioning on the lower

half-fairings of the large Pani-gale V2 logo, inspired by the graphics of Ducati Corse motorcycles.

Testimonial of the Panigale V2 and protagonist of the photo and video shooting of the new livery is the rider of the Pramac Racing Team

Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia. In fact, Pecco was able to enjoy a preview of the bike by test-ing it at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”.

“Since 2016, my personal motto has been #GoFree. For me it means living in a light-hearted and carefree way, hav-

ing fun and giving priority to the things you love to do. I think the Panigale V2 fits well with this definition and reflects my way of being - said Pecco Bagnaia after trying the Panigale V2 - The new livery, so white, is very beautiful and different from the usual. Despite being a street bike, it surprised me how much speed it can have when cornering. It is a fun, very stable and very

sincere bike that allows you to go fast, safely, with-out becoming tired, while having a very strongand decisive character and personality”.

The Panigale V2, presented less than a year ago and capable of immediately conquering an enthusiastic public, is the super-mid of the Ducati sports bikes and represents the entry model to the Panigale family. It is powered

by the 955 cc Superquadro twin-cylinder engine (com-pliant with Euro 5 standard) and has a maximum power of 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 9,000 rpm.

The power of the Panigale V2 allows to have fun on the track, delivering amotorcycle

in the hands of the rider that never puts you in dif-ficulty and can always be fully exploited.

The delivery of the twin-cylinder is such that more than 70% of the maximum torque is constantly available beyond 5,500 rpm, allowing to get out of the corners

quickly, even the slowest ones.

The chassis of the Panigale V2 is based on the mono-coque frame and is dressed in an elegant and sporty design inspired by that of the Panigale V4.

The fairing has extensive and clean surfaces that sur-

round the mechanical com-ponents, enhancing the small size of the Superquadro twin-cylinder and creating a visually compact motorcycle.

The “family feeling” with the other Panigale models is also underlined by the single-sided swingarm, while the compact-sized single lat-

eral exit exhaust, with under-engine silencer, emphasizes the clean lines of the Panigale V2.

The complete and modern electronic equipment, based on the 6-axis inertial plat-form, leaves no doubt about the sporting DNA of the bike.

The electronic package, dedicated to active safety and vehicle dynamics con-trol, includes the “corner-ing” functionality applied to the Bosch ABS, an electronic gearbox, with operation also in downshift and traction, engine braking and wheelie controls.

All the controls are inte-grated into the three Rid-ing Modes (Race, Sport and Street) that can be modi-fied via the 4.3” TFT colour dashboard with graphics and interface designed to make menu navigation and setting adjustments intuitive, as well

as the immediate identifica-tion of the selected Riding Mode.

The chassis has fully-adjust-able suspension with a Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) 43 mm in diameter and a Sachs shock absorber set up to make the bike intuitive, agile and

fun; in addition, the specific calibration of the hydraulic brakes makes it comfortable for road use.

Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II multi-compound tyres, which combine track per-formance with versatility on the road, also contribute to

the dynamic qualities of the Panigale V2.

The ergonomics of the semi-handlebars and the rider seat offer a non-fatiguing position on the road and an efficient one on the track, thus allow-ing the rider to move freely.

The technical equipment is completed by a Sachs steer-ing damper and by a Brembo braking system with M4.32 monobloc callipers activat-ed by a radial brake master cylinder. The discs are 320 mm in diameter at the front

with a single 245 mm disc at the rear. Braking is powerful, never excessively aggressive and always adjustable.

The Panigale V2 in White Rosso livery will be available in Ducati dealers from July 2020.

Ducati presents the “GP White” livery for the Multistrada 950 S.

Ducati completes the colour range of the Multistrada 950 S for the Model Year 2021 by introducing a new “GP White” livery, which

adds to the classic Ducati Red colour. The “GP White” livery takes its inspira-

tion from the Ducati MotoGP graphics and is based on a colour scheme that alternates white and grey, maintaining the unmistak-able Ducati touch in some red details, like in the frame and in the graphics on the alloy wheels.

This new colouring was designed by the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer to

add sportiness to the Multistrada 950 S, which makes elegance, fluidity and balance of lines its strengths.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 is the ideal motorcycle to experience the excitement of the journey every day, rediscovering well-known roads or venturing into new territo-ries.

Riding pleasure and versatility make it per-fect for any type of use. The low weight, the 19” front wheel and the reduced seat height (840 mm) ensure agility and ease of riding, while the advanced technological equipment guarantees maximum safety and comfort in all conditions, both for those who want to

tackle long journeys, maybe as a couple and with luggage, and for those looking for an agile and fun bike to use every day.

On the occasion of the launch of the new livery, the Multistrada 950 S “GP White” was the protagonist of a true “Extraordinary Journey” set

among the unmistakable landscapes of the Motor Val-ley in Emilia-Romagna.

For a motorcycle that makes every road a new world, this land is the ideal place to enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of the regional and Italian territory.

The Multistrada 950, in its S

version, is equipped with the most innovative technology at the service of safety and riding pleasure: electronic suspension with Ducati Sky-hook Suspension Evo (DSS)

system, Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS), full-LED headlamp with Ducati Cor-nering Lights (DCL), 5” col-

our TFT display, Hands Free system, Cruise Control and backlit handlebar controls, as well as Bosch ABS Cornering, which increases the active safety of the vehicle.

Starting from MY21, the entire Multistrada 950 range, powered by the Testastretta 11° engine (937 cc and 113 hp), will comply with Euro

5 standard in all countries where it is in force.

On all models of the Mul-tistrada family, Ducati offers the exclusive “4Ever Multi-strada” warranty, valid for 4 years with unlimited mileage.

The warranty relies on the service offered by the entire network of dealers of the Bologna-based company, a

competent and constantly trained team that treats every Ducati motorcycle with the same care with which it is designed and assembled in Borgo Panigale.

The Multistrada 950 S “GP White”, both in the alloy wheels and spoked wheels versions, will be available in Ducati dealers within July.

onship. The company from Borgo Panigale and the 25-year-old Australian rider have reached an agreement for next season with an option to extend the contract also for 2022.

facturer, and finished last season eighth overall in the standings, taking five podiums during the year.

Jack Miller: “First of all I want to thank warmly Paolo Campinoti, Francesco Guidotti and all the Pramac Racing Team for the great support I have received from them in the two and a half years spent together. It is an honour for me to be able to continue my MotoGP career with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and I would like to thank all the Ducati management, Claudio, Gigi, Paolo and Davide, for having trusted me and given me this incredible opportunity. I look forward to starting riding again this year, and I
