Message from The President

Where were you on January 3, 2018? Some of you will forget the day as no big deal, others will never forget where they were when it snowed in Southbridge creating a beautiful wintry scene. For many, the 2018 gentle, big flaked snowfall brought back childhood memories of the north such as sledding, making snow angels, snow forts, and snowmen. For others, who are long-term southerners, they may remember the snowfall of 1989, the last time snow accumulated in Savannah and Southbridge was just starting its existence. At any rate, the recent snowfall will likely stay in our memory banks and in the history books as one of the biggest to hit the area. On to February, where we may still see subfreezing temps limiting outdoor activities such as tennis and golf. It’s a great time to take in a show… note the Mamma Mia opportunity spearheaded by Malinda Smith in this newsletter or go see Savannah museums, mansions or eat at one of the spectacular downtown restaurants. Do not just wish the cold weather would go away. Dress warmly, get out in it for the heat and humidity will return before we know it. Welcome to our new and returning members for another fun-filled year of activities and events. Our monthly newsletter is your opportunity to see what has happened and what will happen in the future for our SWC membership. A SWC directory will be sent to you soon via email so you can stay in touch with all our members. Enjoy every day especially winter!

This is FUN opportunity to join SWC or renew your membership. You’ll also get to know the current SWC interest groups available to you, join or propose to form new interest groups! The cash bar will be staffed with happy hour priced drinks and complimentary munchies will be provided for all.

Join us for a fun evening at The Historic Savannah Theater! This high-octane, popular musical is making its Savannah debut at the oldest continually operating theater in America. Garden Club -- by Liz Casella In a departure from their normal meetings, The Southbridge Garden Club gathered at the home of Mary and Ed Tritch for a light meal and drinks. Then it was on to the Botanical Gardens for the Festival of Lights! It was a special way to end the year and for our members to spend time together.
