Welcome to Jing Jing
The heart of Jing Jing is to deliver the best Thai food and cultural experience. Our main duty is to make you happy! We aim to have you leave with a smile on your face :)
We pride ourself for the perfect match of Thai food & Melbourne cafe culture. Pla & David started their first Thai cafe restaurant, Middle Fish back in 2011. It was a huge success. Middle Fish is well recognised restaurant, got a few awards and has been featured in Newspapers, Magazines & Online Medias such as The Age, Broadsheet & Herald Sun. Many Bloggers also fell in love w us too.
David was born and bred in Dandenong so we are really excited to serve South-East Suburb commu-nity, some awesome Thai food.
Pla has been working in cafe Industry for over 13 years. She spent many years, working w the Malat-sta family, the owner of St.Ali, one of the main movers and shakers of Melbourne’s 3rd wave coffee culture. This can be seen in our excellent tasting coffee ;)
Her love of Coffee & Thai food influence the strong concept of this unique restaurant cafe.
Our Signature is Southern Thai cuisine, Pla is cooking from her family recipe, Nakhon Sri Tham-marat so have a try and be rewarded by beautiful fresh flavours
Southern Thai cuisine is difficult to find anywhere in Melbourne. So, we encourage you to have a go. If you like Thai heat we can definitely do that, as Sth Thai food is the spiciest province in Thailand
Our rule for dine in is that you leave happy and satisfied, we encourage you to try new dishes as we offer many dishes that is hard to find anywhere in Melbourne :)

Kao Tom is popular dish in Thailand and is eaten all around the clock. Middle fish First Introduced this dish to Melbourne in 2011 as a high-concept breakfast and it’s still going strong
Jing Jing special version of Kao Tom uses brown rice as a healthy substitute. The JJ Kao Tom was born 8 years ago, when Pla and Dave visited their nutritionist. Both were eating the same diet, but dave had gained some weight. As a solution, Pla decided to replace white w brown rice, and implemented this in her and Dave’s home meals as well as JJ’s menu

Sa La PaoThai-Style Steamed Bun, Soft & Tasty
Thais eat Sa La Pao throughout the day but mostly in the morning. You can easily eat it on-the-go. In fact, the street-food stall in Thailand which only sells Sa La Pao has no seating , as people can only do takeaways.
The fun thing about eating Sa La Pao is its small size. That way you can eat several flavours at a time. It’s even more fun to share with your friends!
Sa La Pao is also a great source of protein and carbohydrates, providing you with plenty of energy. It’s perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack. If you’re in a morning rush or need an energy fix in the arvo, it’s an excellent choice. Most importantly. It’s delicious.
Eating Like Thais… Try Sa La Pao with Thai-style coffee or tea ;)
“I wanted to create a Middle Fish version of sa la pao bun and make it a bit different, but still deliver my homeland flavours. My imagination came out with a few kickass varieties. But i would say that ‘Kau Kling’ (spicy & yum) is definitely the highlight!. The spiciness from the curry we bring from sth thailand and some sweetness from the bun to create the perfect combination. It’s totally kickass !!! (joopjoop) Hope u guys enjoy! Pla xx

KANG SOM TARTAR
Popular Southern Thai Curry Paste
My grandma made a living from selling noodles dishes at the morning market. She carried her food on a shoulder yoke and walked several kilometres each day to reach the market! In a senses, I’ve came full circle - Ka Nhom Jeen (noodle) is in my blood! In fact, I didn’t even know I would one day own a Thai restaurant!, but after tracking back my family histo-ry, it all makes sense. The Liamthong dynasty started from just selling Ka Nhom Jeen (noodle) in Thailand but now I am continuing that tradition by intro-ducing it to you all in Melbourne :)
I believe that every meal should reflect a balanced nutrition and include all neces-sary food groups because asian cuisine is “Family-Style”. This shared eating differs from the western independent ordering style. So, I’ve made sure that a single dish provides you with all that your body needs.
In Thailand, people choose from a variety of sauce condiments on the table and grab from a plate of vegetables. At Jing Jing, we give you all this in one meal. No need to fight over that last cucumber!
To eat Ka Nhom Jeen properly, scoop some pickles, raw veggies, curry sauce, meat & noodle ion your spoon for every mouthful - You won't regret it!
This meal is perfect! It’s not only tasty but also adds nutritional value. It contains both carbohydrates to give you energy & enzymes that give you vitamins & minerals.
● Nam Prik GF 15.5Tiger prawns, palm sugar & tamarind sauce w crushed peanuts.Sweet & sour flavours, this is the perfect alternative for Pad Thai Lovers.
● Nam Ya GF 16Crispy soft shell crab in a fish curry broth. We’ve preserved its original flavours, but added more nutritional value. This dish is a Middle Fish Super Star.

The best in town & we are not kidding !! Just the way Pla grew up. No compromising for this section.
There are four main regions in Thailand : North, South, Northeast & Central. As you travel from top to bottom. The food changes. Each region has its own distinct cuisine.
Southern Thais take advantage of their proximity to the ocean by eating plenty of seafood and coconut milk. The south also uses preservatives like shrimp paste & dried fish to prolong the shelf-life of their abundant seafood resources.
Southern Thai is known for the spiciest region in Thailand. The main ingredient in curries is turmeric which gives curry its bold yellow colour.
My mum decides what she will cook as she walks along the market. You can’t
pre-plan your menu because you never know what fresh produce is available or what the fisherman caught that day. The dishes at Jing Jing retain this culinary principle of making the best of what we have

About Glass Noodle
Glass noodle is made from mung beans and is the healthier alternative to rice, which Thais consume religiously. Health-conscious people can consume glass noodle instead-it’s filling, provides energy, and doesn’t use flour. Glass Noodle is Low GI.
