“Our professional belief in ethics and quality whilst implementing international standards in all our operations has evolved into a set of corporate practices which we use as our
benchmark to excellence and success.”
Over the last few years the economic development of Qatar has been remarkable. The country has become one of the world’s fastest growing and most successful economies as markets continue to diversify and the country’s infrastructure continues to develop.
Dating back to 1964, our organisation has been an active participant in contributing to this growth story. Our Company has helped the country diversify away from traditional oil and gas income streams and is now firmly established as one of the region’s largest companies delivering quality products and services across a range of high growth sectors.
Our strategy is focused on creating shareholder value: building sustainable long term earnings growth and increasing total returns for shareholders. Our record of growth is testament to the strength of the platform we have created.
At Aamal, we believe that the success of our
business is directly attributable to the high standards and practices that have been implemented and the high calibre of our people. This in turn has attracted blue chip international companies with whom we have been able to partner to deliver new, innovative products and services driven by the increasingly sophisticated demands of Qatar, and wider Gulf market places. The success of our existing international partnerships and the desire for international blue chip companies to partner with us is testament to the quality of our business.
Our commitment to corporate governance and
CHAIRMAN´S MESSAGE
business ethics remains at the forefront of all that we do. This has allowed us to develop a set of corporate practices that have helped to deliver excellence and success to our stakeholders.
Aamal offers a unique investment proposition for its investors. Through the diversification of operations, it seeks to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns. As a diversified group providing exposure to Qatar’s fastest growing sectors, Aamal is in a unique position to offer shareholders exposure to the remarkable Qatar growth story. The vision of H.H. The Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, to develop Qatar into one of the region’s leading economic powers, remains at the heart of our business. Aamal is as determined as ever to play a major role in the realisation of this vision and to be a major beneficiary of the State of Qatar’s success. Faisal Bin Qassim Bin Faisal Al Thani

OverviewAccording to Qatar National Bank ‘QNB ‘Qatar Economic Insight 2015, Qatar’s economy continued its rapid diversification in 2014. Real GDP growth accelerated to an estimated 6.5% in 2014 on large investment spending.
Growth was driven by the non-hydrocarbon sector, which continued its double-digit growth (11.9%). Meanwhile, the hydrocarbon sector declined by an estimated 1.3% reflecting receding oil production from maturing oil fields and maintenance shutdown in gas plants.
Non-hydrocarbon sectorNon-Hydrocarbon real GDP is expected to grow by 10.8% in 2015, 10.7% in 2016 and 10.9% in 2017. The government is committed to implementing its ambitious investment programme despite the decline in oil prices. In its 2014/15 budget, the
government has earmarked a capital spending of USD182bn until 2018. The figure excludes the oil and gas sector, where annual investments are expected to average USD3.4bn over 2015-17. Government capital spending is expected to progressively increase from USD30.2bn in 2015 to USD37.1bn in 2017 with the ramp-up in infrastructure spending. As a result, the share of the non hydrocarbon sector is expected to rise from an estimated 51.6% in 2014 to 68.5% in 2017 on the continued diversification of the economy.
The largest contributors to real non-hydrocarbon GDP growth in 2014 are estimated to have been construction, financial services and trade, restaurants and hotels.
Hydrocarbon sectorQatar’s hydrocarbon production fell in 2014 as the moratorium on further gas explorations in the
North Field is being implemented. Gas production fell slightly in 2014 due to temporary maintenance shutdowns. Growth in the hydrocarbon sector is expected to be moderate by 0.8% in 2015, 1.8% in 2016 and 1.9% in 2017 on the additional Barzan gas production offsetting stable crude oil and condensate production. The Barzan project is a USD10.3bn North Field gas development to increase production for domestic use.
This large infrastructure investment program will have a direct effect on GDP growth through higher Investment spending and an indirect effect through population growth.
A new wave of expatriate workers is coming into Qatar in response to higher labor demand for infrastructure projects. Indeed, population continued its double-digit growth (10.1%) in the year 2014, driven by the large ramp up in infrastructure spending.
THE STATE OF QATAR
9
The larger population will continue to drive economic growth by boosting domestic demand, services as well as investment in housing and other infrastructure. Accordingly, small and medium-sized enterprises, such as hotels, education, medical services, retail and restaurants are expected to flourish in order to cater to the growing population.
On the expenditure side, Qatar is to follow in the 2030 Vision which stress development and allocation of funds to education, health strategic projects and infrastructure expenses. In light of the preparations for FIFA 2022 World cup, Qatar is increasing capital expenditures by 33.4 per cent to reach QAR58bn.
Announced governmental and private sector projects includes the following:
• Lusail City• Msheireb Downtown Doha• Al Khor Tourism Project• Energy City• New Doha Port• Road Works• Railways• New hotels• FIFA World Cup 2022• Manateq Economic Zones
