dive. Éste es un deporte a nivelmundial que se ha desarrolladosorprendentemente con nuevastécnicas de entrenamiento yequipo, contribuyendo así a laseguridad y el disfrute del mismo,por lo que en la actualidad,prácticamente cualquier personatiene acceso a vivir esta má-gica experiencia.

Aquí te damos una pequeña guíade los pasos previos a flotar porlos aires:

1.- Lo principal es un entre-namiento de no más de 20 minu-tos, proporcionado por instruc-tores certificados. Después vieneel ascenso con una duración de25 minutos aproximadamente.

El Skydive es un deporte fuera deserie; si ya tienes planeado aven-tarte un “clavado al cielo”, sóloasegúrate de acercarte a unaempresa seria, que cuente con unequipo de profesionales loscuales te hagan vivir una expe-riencia única la cual te asegu-ramos cambiará tu visión delmundo. Otra importantísima medida deseguridad es que los saltos sehacen con dos paracaídas: elprincipal y el de reserva, loscuales tienen el mismo nivel decontrol. Si el paracaidista porcualquier razón se desmaya, sequeda inconsciente o tuvo unaemergencia y no supo reaccionarcorrectamente, actualmente yaexiste un sistema llamado “aper-tura automática”, el cual consisteen pequeñas computadoras colo-cadas al interior de los equipos yestán calibradas para que a ciertaaltura y velocidad, el paracaídas

Another very important safetymeasure is that when youjump you do so with twoparachutes: the principal oneand a reserve. Both have thesame amount of control. If thejumper, for any reason faints,is unconscious or had anemergency and did not knowhow to react properly, there isnow a system called “auto-matic opening.” Which con-sists of small computersplaced inside the equipment,that are calibrated so that atcertain height and speed, theparachute will open automati-cally, therefore there is nopossibility of the pilot landingwith a closed parachute.

HISTORIA DEL PARACAIDISMO

En el siglo XV encontramos al geniode todos los tiempos, Leonardo daVinci, quien estudió el vuelo de lospájaros y sacó conclusiones quehasta hoy son consideradas básicasen la ciencia aeronáutica. El para-caídas que él diseñó era deforma piramidal, como se puedeapreciar en sus dibujos. Muchosconsideran a Leonardo daVinci como el “Padredel Paracaidismo”.

Al pasar los años, antesde la Primera GuerraMundial y hasta media-dos de la década de losaños 20, los estadou-nidenses ostentaron el título de serlos pioneros más activos del para-caidismo. En 1950 la disciplina em-pieza a ganar popularidad, cuandoalgunos franceses comenzaron asaltar por entretenimiento, experi-mentando caídas libres y diseñandonuevos paracaídas, más fácilesde conducir.

Al otro lado del mundo, enAmérica del Sur, el proceso se viviómás lentamente. Fue hasta la déca-da de los años 80 cuando entrófuertemente en Chile, especialmentea las Fuerzas Armadas. Desde esepunto se expandió al mundo civil.

SKYDIVING HISTORY

pioneers of skydiving. In1950, this discipline startsgaining popularity, when afew French began jumping asentertainment, experimen-ting freefalls, and designingnew parachu-tes, easier todrive.

On the other side of theworld, in South America, theprocess went by slowly. Itwas until the 80’s when it hitstrongly in Chile, especiallyamong the Armed Forces.From that point, it spreadthroughout the civil world.

Michel Alvarez, Director Generalde Skydive Playa, comenta enentrevista con IN Playa lo si-guiente: “Los equipos de hoy endía son extremadamente avanza-dos, literalmente son 10 vecesmás seguros que el individuo que

Indicaciones Importantes:• El skydive no es recomendablepara personas con problemascardíacos o que tengan un pesocorporal superior a los 100 Kg.,ya que los aterrizajes tienenmayor velocidad y el arnés resul-ta bastante incómodo.

• Es de suma importancia quefirmes una carta de buena saludantes de saltar

• No existe un límite de edadpara practicar éste deporte, laúnica condición es para losmenores de 18 años, pues esindispensable el consentimientode los padres o tutores

• Procura utilizar ropa cómoda yzapatos que no se vuelen conel aire

• Es fundamental y obligatorioingerir alimentos antes de saltar enparacaídas; esto se debe a que eltiempo que dura el salto, tu cuer-po libera mucha adrenalina, sequema una enorme cantidad deenergía y si no tienes reservas, so-breviene una descompensación.Debes de hacer una comida com-pleta, sin restricciones, de no ha-cerlo también existe la posibilidadde que devuelvas el estómago

he grounds of Mayakobá,and especially El Camaleon,are the heart of an incredibly

diverse ecosystem, an interdepen-dent stretch of mangrove, caves,forest and ocean front with wildlifethat ranges from toucans to mon-keys. Before any developmentbegan at Mayakobá, project deve-lopers OHL spent 6 years andmillions of dollars studying the localenvironment and putting toge-ther plans to not only preserve,butalso enhance the surroun-ding landscape.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, thatmanages the golf course and hasalready won awards for its steward-ship of such golfing icons as BanffSprings and Jasper Park Lodge, isalso committed to the highest levelsof environmental sustainability.

The environmental integrity of thecourse was also a priority ofEl Camaleon´s designer GregNorman. “We begin each newgolf course design with least-disturbance approach”, saysNorman. “Our design team dedi-cates time and effort to finding themost desirable natural features ofa site and incorporates then intothe routing”, he says adding, “Inaddition to being fully conscious ofenvironmentally sensitive areasthat include wetlands or ecosys-tems with endangered native plantor animal life, we also spend con-siderable time in the designprocess identifying ways to utilizethe greatest number of existingtrees on a site, rather than elimi-nate them”.

“When we open a golf course, it’smy hope that people will look at itand say that it appears to havebeen part of the landscape formany years. With every project wedo, I like to think that we leave aproperty in better environmentalcondition than we found it”.

As a demonstration of thatcommitment, El Camaleón hasalready become one of the fewcourses in all Mexico to enrollin the Audubon CooperativeSanctuary program for Golf.One of the world’s leadingenvironmental certification agen-cies, Audubon’s stringent pro-gram includes environmentalplanning, wildlife and habitatmanagement, water conserva-tion, chemical use reduction,as well as safety and water quali-ty management.

Among the special initiativesundertaken at El Camaleón is theimplementation of a sophisti-cated, self-contained water sys-tem. None of the water used in ElCamaleón leaves the course. It isrecollected, treated and pumpedback into the courses irriga-tion lake.

Como prueba de ese compromiso,El Camaleón se ha convertido enuno de los pocos campos de golfen todo México inscritos en elprograma de santuarios coope-rativos de golf de Audubon una delas agencias de certificación másimportantes en el mundo. Suestricto programa incluye pla-nificación medioambiental, ges-tión de la fauna y del hábitat,conservación del agua, reducciónde productos químicos y gestiónde la calidad del agua.

Entre las iniciativas especialesefectuadas en el Camaleón sepuede mencionar la imple-mentación de un sofisticado sis-tema independiente de ali-mentación de agua. El agua uti-lizada en el Camaleón permaneceahí: es recolectada, tratada ybombeada de vuelta al estanquede irrigación del terreno.

El “Distintivo H” es el reconoci-miento que se entrega a los Hote-les, Restaurantes, Cafeterías, Co-medores Industriales y Comisa-riatos, quienes de manera volun-taria, solicitan y cumplen los están-dares de calidad y condiciones deseguridad demandados por losconsumidores nacionales y extran-jeros, en el manejo de los alimentos.

Para la obtención del “Distintivo H”la Secretaría de Turismo envía unapersona altamente calificada yespecializada en el tema, paraexaminar y verificar que se realicencorrectamente todas las medidasde higiene y control, tanto de losalimentos, personal y las instala-ciones, contemplando más de 100aspectos sobre el manejo y lahigiene de los alimentos.
