DISINFECTION OF ALL MARKETS IN THE GREATER ACCRA REGION
His Excellency, the President of the Republic, directed theMinistry of Local Government andRural Development (MLGRD) to coordinate with the Metropolitan, Municipal and DistrictAssemblies (MMDAs) to enhance the conditions of hygiene in markets across the country.
In pursuant to the directives, a number of activities have been initiated including thedisinfection of markets, public education and sensitization of market women on the COVID-19. In view of this, the general public is hereby informed of the disinfection of 137 markets inthe Greater Accra Region on Monday 23 rd March 2020.
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in collaboration with MarketQueens and leaders are to close the attached lists of markets under their jurisdiction onMonday 23 rd March 2020 for disinfection to enhance conditions of hygiene in order tocontain and prevent the spread of the virus.
The markets would be opened on Tuesday, 24th March 2020 for business.
The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council is to coordinate and ensure compliancewith the above directive by MMDAs in the region.
The Ministry requests the cooperation of the general public especially,traders and all personsconducting businesses in the markets, in this all-important exercise.
