BILL RUNS A RAFTING BUSINESSBill runs a rafting business that he set up over ten years ago. His season runs from May until October. During other months the weather conditions make it unsafe to go rafting.

Bill is always looking at ways to in -crease his sales. A few years ago he

ran a Groupon deal which oered his customers a 50% discount. He paid Groupon 20% and therefore

received 30% of his normal sale price for each trip sold.

Customers got frustrated with how long it was taking for them to schedule their trip

Customers began to express their frustration on websites like Yelp

Bill experienced a drastic decline in bookings made through his own website. He couldn’t work out whether the decline was due to Groupon or due to them reading the reviews on Yelp.

CUSTOMERS GOT FRUSTRATED

Following the end of the deal, customers immediately began to contact Bill’s rafting company to make bookings.

Unfortunately, Bill only employed two administrators who also answered the phone to take bookings. His business was not geared up to answer so many calls at once.

Even though customers were able to leave messages, Bills administrators couldn’t get back to customers until after hours because they were so busy answering the phone during the day.

Whilst the number of tourists taking rafting trips increased, the number of locals taking trips decreased by nearly 20%. The poor reviews on Yelp from the previous season made his services look inferior to his competition. Also, since many consumers had taken a rafting trip the previous season, they were less inclined to make a booking this season.

Groupon approached Bill again to carry out another Deal; they even

oered to only take 12% of the transaction as a fee. Bill still rejects them as he knows that even if they

didn’t charge him anything, he’d only be break even at best

Bill implements Full Seats, having seen it listed as an extension to his existing booking system. Bill realizes that demand for his rafting trips depends on a number of variables such as:

increases the deal the more people are in a raft.

Discounts only come into play once a raft has more than two people in it.

THE FULL SEATS SOLUTION

Bill publishes these deals on his own website using the Full Seats widget.

He also allows his rafting trips to be sold by members of the Full Seats distribution network.

He contacts a local hotel and oers them a commission for selling his services. The hotel signs up for an Agent account in Full Seats and adds a widget for Bills’ rafting trips on their own website.

BILL EXPERIENCES A SHARP INCREASE IN SALESBill experiences a signicant increase in sales from customers using the Full Seats invite to friends and from Full Seat Distribution Partners. He also manages to absorb the new business into his existing structure as it is entirely administered online.

On days when the weather isn’t great, Bill is able to congure his pricing to oset any decline in bookings. Bill is also able to congure deals in Full Seats when he has last minute availability.

In addition to traditional Distribution Partners, last minute deals can be pushed out to users of the Crowd Tripper mobile app within a 50 mile radius; alerting them to the deal.
