NEW INFORMATION Parking / Drop Off at VES Parking for VES is severely limited, as is our “drop off” area. Due to limited cross walks and high traffic congestion parking along the road in front of the school is prohibited parking from 0745 – 0815 during school days. There is official signage in front of the school with that information. We have approximately 120 cars utilizing the drop off area daily, and if there are 5 cars parked in the drop off area that impacts over 100 drop offs. We are very sorry that there is not a convenient option for parking and walking you child to class. The possibilities are to park by building 1032, or to go past the school to the lower parking lot behind building 1178. As the days become shorter and mornings become darker it is beneficial for the safety of all to follow the traffic procedures set out by command in and around our community. Flu Vaccine Community Events Scheduled for KMC

LANDSTUHL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, Germany – The flu vaccine has arrived and will be offered to the

Kaiserslautern Military Community at numerous events throughout the area, listed below. Patients may also

receive the vaccine during scheduled appointments in their primary care clinics as well as the Immunization,

Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatric clinics.

Army and Air Force health professionals recommend the flu vaccine for everyone ages 6 months and older to

prevent getting the flu or reducing the severity and duration of symptoms.

“The flu can be life threatening and the most dangerous for those who cannot be vaccinated, like infants, the

elderly and people with health complications,” said LRMC’s Chief of Army Public Health Nursing, Maj. Timothy

Whoolery. “This is why everyone who can get vaccinated against the flu really needs to get the vaccine, to

reduce the spread to our high risk population.”

For many people, annual vaccination is a requirement and not a recommendation. This includes military

service members, healthcare workers, school-age children, as well as childcare facility employees and

attendees. Anyone required to receive the vaccine should ask their unit or organization for guidance about

when and where to get it.

LRMC and the Air Force’s 86th Medical Group have put together a robust schedule of flu vaccine events

throughout the local communities. The vaccine will be offered at the community events to anyone 6 months

and older who is eligible for healthcare at a military treatment facility, unless otherwise noted below.

Everyone is encouraged to attend one of these events, as wait times are typically much shorter than in the

clinical setting.

Although the vaccine is provided at no cost to the patient, Army medical staff will be asking all but active duty

patients to submit their health insurance information, so please bring a copy of a current health insurance

card.

OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL

VOGELWEH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

UNIT 3009

APO AE 09021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an update on the release of TerraNova

2017 reports.

Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) recently acquired the business assets of testing

agency CTB McGraw Hill, including the TerraNova test. As the two data systems and

scoring processes were being integrated, there have been many discoveries and

unanticipated issues that have caused significant delays in the reporting process. This

includes a labeling issue that resulted in discrepancies in student scores for 78 cases across

all DoDEA regions. Please know that these reporting issues are not the fault of your school

nor DoDEA staff.

We understand that this unanticipated delay in the release of reports may have caused

some concern for parents and schools. We sincerely regret this situation and we are

working diligently with the vendor to get a resolution as soon as possible. TerraNova

Spring 2017 confirmed results will be released pending a final review and approval by the

assessment agency and DoDEA research team. This release is tentatively scheduled for

October 31, 2017. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Joseph Lovett

Principal
