Study Highlights• Florida produces nearly 80% of all tropical and
indoor houseplants in the U.S.• Florida’s nursery and landscape industry created
28,000 jobs between 2010 & 2015.• Native plant sales in 2015 doubled since 2010 to
15.5% of total nursery sales.• An industry mainstay, palms and tropical foliage
represented 21.5% of total nursery sales. Edible plants, an emerging market, represented 3.5% of total nursery sales.
• 31% of Florida landscape sales were to builders and developers.
• Suppliers sold $170 million in irrigation equipment.• Nearly 60% of landscape firms offered Florida-
Friendly plants and Florida-FriendlyTM Landscaping services.
