GROUP TIME NOTES FOR
LEADERS
The purpose of Group Time is for the youth group to talk about the day. It is not
intended to be another extended worship time or sermon. It is a great opportunity to
involve the entire youth group in sharing. Group Time is one of the most unique parts
of NYR. Make sure you lay the ground rules and set expectations correctly the first
day!
Homework Please spend time in prayer.
Take mental notes of things that happen each day at NYR and use them at Group
Time for discussion and individual accountability.
Watch for opportunities to see how all your students are doing.
Intentionality We don’t assume to know your students better than you do by any means, but we do
feel a burden on our hearts to provide material for you to use. We ask that you
incorporate as many of these items as you can in your Group Time because they
compound upon each other.
Discussion Tips for Leaders to Know 1. Everyone needs to be included in the discussion.
2. No repeat answers. If someone answers a question the way you were going to,
choose to give more details and elaborate rather than repeat the same answer.
3. No one is allowed to monopolize the discussion.
4. Watch your time. Allow time to talk about important stuff.
5. Always spend the last part of Group Time in prayer.
![Page 8: IMMEASURABLE - NYR · 2017 Schedule Grounds open Friday, July 21 at 8:00 am Sunday, July 23 ... What was something that you learned about Jonah’s life? 5. ... If anyone in your](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022051608/603f05c6b1b37e322522cdd2/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
SUNDAY
1. What challenged you about today?
2. This morning when we talked about the bigness of God, did anything that was said
surprise you?
3. What did you know about Jonah before the session tonight?
4. What was something that you learned about Jonah’s life?
5. This week we will be learning about Jonah in the morning sessions and different
parts of Jesus’ life in the evenings. Our classes will be giving us an overview of the
book of Ephesians.
Close With Prayer Pray for a powerful week. Begin to challenge your students to take opportunities to
examine their life.
Talk about tomorrow: Go over the schedule.
Class locations:
Information is available at Registration/Merch and they will be announced
from the Main Stage.
Review the rules, dress guidelines, and helpful camping info.
Remind them about weather and climate and how to keep their tent waterproof.
Tell them to use lots of sunblock and to drink lots of water. (The suggested
amount of water is half a person’s body weight in ounces.)
![Page 9: IMMEASURABLE - NYR · 2017 Schedule Grounds open Friday, July 21 at 8:00 am Sunday, July 23 ... What was something that you learned about Jonah’s life? 5. ... If anyone in your](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022051608/603f05c6b1b37e322522cdd2/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)

3. What does it mean to know Jesus is your Savior and Lord?
Discussion Questions about the Day 1. What was Monday’s theme for the day? What is today’s theme?
2. What challenged you today in the sessions or the class?
3. We see God’s power throughout the Bible; do you let Him lead your life?
4. Are you willing to let God lead even though it might look or sound crazy to the
world? (Like the blind man willing to do what Jesus told him to do to be healed.)
Close with Prayer
Late Night Worship in the Valley We will conclude the night with a special time of worship. After prayer, have your
group go quietly to the Valley. If you have baptisms this night, please do them after the
worship session.

2. After Jonah was swallowed by the fish, we see him pursuing God. Do you feel that
you pursue God? What about when you’re having success in your life?
3. We see that Satan went after Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus continued to stay
faithful and used scripture to fight off Satan. Do you read your Bible daily?

rest of the group?

![Page 13: IMMEASURABLE - NYR · 2017 Schedule Grounds open Friday, July 21 at 8:00 am Sunday, July 23 ... What was something that you learned about Jonah’s life? 5. ... If anyone in your](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022051608/603f05c6b1b37e322522cdd2/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
NYR POLICIES
Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A
notarized document for temporary legal guardianship must be turned into the
Registrar with the camper’s registration. This mandate comes from the state of
Colorado, not NYR.
Nationwide Youth Roundup is a Christian gathering. Please come with a
cooperative attitude and desire to grow in the Lord.
Every person must register. Please do so upon arrival. Each registrant must wear
the official wristband at all times. Anyone who is not wearing one will be escorted

sponsored by an adult (youth leader, minister, parent or guardian) and must gain
permission by the sponsor.
Identify and obey Ranch Sheriff and Deputies at all times.
Observe the Golf Cart Procedures as listed on the Golf Cart Registration Form.
Main Sessions in the Valley: In our attempt to serve all the groups represented we
ask that you observe and respect the seating arrangements. This should allow you
to keep your students at dinner together and free time longer. No one should have
to “rush” to save seats. Please aid us in removing all lawn chairs and blankets so
recreation can commence without interference.
We must conserve water.
Sponsors are expected to see that their youth attend all services and classes.
Shower houses will be closed for cleaning purposes each day during the evening
services. Any articles found in the shower houses will be removed.
All outer clothing must be modest and free from suggestive or offensive imprints.
Shorts may be worn at all times, subject to your sponsor’s consent.
Campers who use walkie-talkies are asked to reserve channel Seven (7) for
authorized personnel only.

under any circumstances.

already been cut down for firewood. Wildflowers cannot be picked. They are
protected by law in Colorado.
Swimming and the use of paddle boats in the pond is NOT allowed unless
otherwise announced.
No pets are allowed on the NYR campgrounds. There are local kennels available
for boarding your pet if you must bring it with you.

DISASTROUS FIRES
The past fires and the dry weather in Colorado should make all NYR attendees more
aware of the constant Fire Danger in the mountains of Colorado. Not only does fire
put NYR 2017 at risk, it also risks future years of NYR and it puts at risk all of NYR’s
gracious neighbors and their property. Campers will be required to abide by
announcements made at the registration booth and from the main stage. If a fire ban is
activated, the following rules will apply to all campers. Regardless of age or perceived

required by NYR Camp Management to leave NYR for the remainder of the week,
forfeiting all registration and camping fees.

Only propane gas grills or stoves will be allowed for the sole purposes of cooking
or heating recreational vehicles.
The location and positioning of all propane gas grills or stoves must be inspected
for safety by NYR management prior to ANY use thereof.
Each propane gas grill must be located in the open, out from under trees, shrubs,
or away from any other flammable materials.
Each cooking area must have, at all times, a full fire extinguisher and a five-gallon
bucket full of water, both located within 10 feet of any operating grills or stoves.

or older must be present to man the fire extinguisher and the water bucket to
watch for dangerous and extraordinary flames.
Propane connections must be turned off when not in use.
No one under the age of 21 shall be allowed to operate propane gas grills or
stoves.
No one under the age of 21 shall be allowed to light, operate, or be in the
