IMG Library Services
» The IMG Library contains over 500,000 items » It holds some of the earliest nitrate film to the latest digital formats » Collections held in London, New York and Sydney » Utilizes cutting edge media asset management and storage technologies
25 | IMG HENRY STEWART DAM EU | JUNE 2013
MAM – Media Asset Management
» IMG makes use of industry leading Media Asset Management technologies» We currently use VizRT’s Ardome for our MAM.
» MAM is a tool for: » Searching for & finding content» Browsing & viewing proxies » Partially restoring media» Making rough cuts and clips» Send media to edits » Fulfilment and Clip and Programme Sales
» Our MAM systems allow for the possibility of remote access to content by our clients, their broadcast partners and other external clients

The Metadata Challenge
15 Sports x 42 Federations = A massive metadata challenge
Post-live logging and enrichment
Live , in-game logging
Match / player stats & data
Conformed to specific Federation metadata standards
Published to internal MAM
Parsed in to IMG metadata schema
Published to IMGSVA.com

IP Director
IP Director is the industry standard tool for logging sports content.
Developed by EVS and connects directly to their high-end broadcast servers for the rapid replay of video
Pre-defined keyword grids in IP Director create a controlled vocabulary for each sport and means complete consistency in the application of metadata
28 | IMG HENRY STEWART DAM EU | JUNE 2013
Production vs Archive Logging
» A production log is not the same as an archive log» Production logging is typically live, in-game capture of key events only» Full archive logs will normally contain double the amount of entries of a
production log. » The aim of an archive log is to detail anything that will enhance the value of a
piece of footage
vs
ArchiveProduction
29 | IMG HENRY STEWART DAM EU | JUNE 2013
More, more metadata!
» Logging guidelines are developed in conjunction with our federations - they are the experts in their sport
» Our logging aims to capture every key action and moment » Time-based metadata attaches descriptive metadata to the exact point in the
match where the action occurs» We also log the exposure given to sponsors logos and advertising – this
increases both re-sale opportunities and provides a visual record for sponsors of any in-event coverage.

Project Goals – how did we do?
To maximise the commercial opportunities for Federations and Governing Bodies
To create a single destination for sports archive content To deliver a platform that recognises no two sports are
alike and allows intelligent results based searching as well as conventional keyword find and filter.
To understand the unique requirements of event based media and harness the power of sports data whilst integrating live production demands.
To deliver gold standard media migration cost effectively without moving tapes!
To deliver to production in a way that shows how modern day post production workflow can be optimised when using archive. Browse, offline, AAF, relink.
To create a multi faceted service that allows significantly enhanced access for differing use cases. Direct Federation access and conditional Licensee access to the full archive as well as a “shop window” B2B.
