Problem and Solution Overview

• Current task tracking apps require a lot of data entry

•  Apps are time based, not location based• The solution?

o Create location based reminderso Associate tasks with certain locationso Find the most efficient way to complete tasks

Page 3: I'm here. Now What?

Contextual Inquiry #1

• Kelsie: Junior Biology Student• Prepared both extensive

weekly and daily agenda of schoolwork, volunteering, work and other tasks

• Wrote every assignment and separated by class

• Used her list to guide her studying at the library

Page 4: I'm here. Now What?

Contextual Inquiry #2• Quentin: UX Designer and artist• Trying to buy Radiohead tickets,

breakfast, shop at Trader Joes, and make a stop at the drugstore

• Lack of planning/agenda caused wasted time at Fred Meyer

• Forgot a list so he didn't know what he needed from the drugstore

Page 5: I'm here. Now What?

Contextual Inquiry #3• Josh: Sophomore Biology Student• Observed him make a list of errands

which included groceries, DSW shoes and Bank of America

• There was a bank right next to Safeway, but didn't remember about bank until ride home

• Could have benefited from location based reminders

Page 6: I'm here. Now What?

Task Analysis Results• Students go to great lengths to stay organized

currently using paper agendas and simple digital calendars

 • Conventional planners are inadequate and

current location reminders require exact addresses

 • By creating sub-lists, students and people

runnign errands can stay a great deal more organized

Page 7: I'm here. Now What?

Task Analysis Results• Running errands with no preparation is bound to

fail • If users are willing to spend time ahead using our

application is needs to be quick to view tasks • If there were a way to efficiently organize stops

throughout your day it could be greatly beneficial

Page 8: I'm here. Now What?

Task Analysis Results• Josh made a list, but there was no organization

to that list. • Created that list the day he went to the store

rather than keeping a running list as he remembered he needed items

 • By digitizing the list on his smartphone, and

having it plan his day, he would have been able to save the third, unnecessary stop

Simple Task

Users will view appropriate locations and necessary information to complete tasks they have added to the application.

Page 10: I'm here. Now What?

Moderate Task

Users will receive reminders about current uncompleted tasks in the correct, place, time and context

Page 11: I'm here. Now What?

Complex Task

Users will plan out optimal routes to complete their tasks in  the quickest amount of time.

Page 12: I'm here. Now What?

- User would add task by taking a picture to represent the task

- Users tasks would be shown as a group of pictures with the higher priority tasks appearing larger

- Can click on the picture for additional information for the task

Sketches

- Another idea how to represent task

-Tasks such as homework have sub-lists (assignments) that would branch off from the main task

- All parts of the web would need to be completed to consider the main task complete

Sketches

Page 14: I'm here. Now What?

- Shows a possible screen of the application creating a optimal route to complete tasks

- Would show visual of each task in relative locations that they can be completed

- Directions would lead user to all tasks in the best order and locations

Summary- What Now? will replace all existing written and digital planners

- Will analyze user's data entered and be used to remind them about uncompleted tasks

- Will allow the user to see any information needed to complete the tasks and use those locations to create and optimal route
