• Facebook is rolling out a design change to make brand pages look similar to the new profile and place pages
• There are also several new page management features to help admins

• Facebook now offers the option of featuring admins on the page, which would allow users to know who manages the page and contact them if necessary
• Pages can specify which admins, if any, are displayed on the page
• Admins can also select which “favorite pages,” now called “Likes,” are shown on the left of the page

• In addition to the redesign, Facebook has added the option to “Use Facebook as a Page”

• This allows you to get notifications about new Likes, comments and wall posts, just as you do for a personal Facebook profile

• When you log in as a page, your News Feed fills with posts from your fan page’s “Favorite Pages,” now simply called “Likes”
• You also can update the page, add photos, create an event and view insights directly from the Facebook homepage

• When logged in as a page, you can comment on any item on Facebook as a brand• This applies to other fan pages and your friends’ profile pages• You cannot write on a fan’s personal profile if they have not added your personal
account as a friend

• There is also an option to comment on your fan page using your personal profile• Before, admins were forced to make wall posts or comments as the brand• Go to Edit Page Your Settings Posting Preferences
• Uncheck the box to be able to post on a page as yourself
• Additionally, you can now get email notifications when people post or comment on your fan page

• You can switch back to your personal profile from the Account menu

• Facebook has added the option to add words to a “Blocklist” and set a level for profanity blocking
• Go to Edit Page Manage Permissions• Blocked posts will be sent to the “Hidden Posts” filter of the Wall when
viewing in “Admin View”• Facebook pages should be a place for open dialogue and we recommend
careful consideration before adding words to a blocklist

• Facebook is now helping admins detect spam in comments by using a darker gray background on comments with symbols, extra punctuation, extra letters, incomplete sentences or links
• Suggested spam is not visible to fans• Admins can take action on the comment by clicking the X in the top right corner

In all, the changes to Facebook Pages are beneficial to brands. Fans will
recognize the layout from Facebook profiles and place pages. And admins
have several new tools for improved monitoring and management.
