iFat’s range of exhibits.
IFAT showcases the entire range of solutions in the water/sewage sector – from water
extraction and distribution to water treatment. In 2012, the global significance of the resource
water was impressively presented on 115,000 square meters of exhibition space. In addition, the
presence of the UN underscores the relevance of the topic of water at the political level.
In the waste/secondary raw material segment, innovations and optimized solutions, among
other things for recycling raw materials, occupied 100,000 square meters of exhibition space in
2012. Besides waste collection and transport, the range of exhibits at IFAT includes the entire
range of processing techniques such as sorting and shredding machines, waste presses and the
use of thermal and biological recycling to generate energy from waste. The range of exhibits is
rounded out by the vehicle sector and the segment for street cleaning and winter road services.
In 2012, visitors also experienced exciting live demonstrations such as the “VAK Trucks in
Action”, the “VDMA Practical Days” and the “DWA Professionals Competition”.

iFat’s objectives.
The innovations on display in the sectors for water/sewage and waste/secondary raw materials
help to preserve resources so that they remain available for future use. The important thing is
to heighten awareness for dealing responsibly with valuable resources.
In 2012, the topics of recycling precious raw materials and the valuable resource of water were
the focus of two special shows titled “Treasure Trove Cell Phone” and “Water is Future”.
The objective of IFAT 2014 is to work with exhibitors to make every aspect of resource conser-
vation and recycling visible in all sectors.
Networking and new prospects. iFat’s events program.
The thing that is so impressive about IFAT’s popular program of related events is the wide
range of topics that it covers. Podium events, discussions, country specials and live demonstra-
tions of machines and vehicles at the outdoor site are an open invitation to exchange informa-
tion at the international level. During the 2012 fair, more than 16,000 visitors took advantage of
the opportunity to participate in some 320 lectures and discussions on topics such as water
management, phosphorous recycling, recycling management legislation, waste-to-energy
solutions and mega cities.
A diverse and impressive program of related events awaits you again in 2014. One focal point at
the 2014 fair is the topic of “intelligent urbanization”, which is being implemented as a separate
platform at several events organized by Messe München. During IFAT, experts will discuss
urbanization solutions and exhibitors will present their products and services for metropolitan
regions. Additional information is available at www.intelligent-urbanization.com.
