and users associations dealing with Digital Health for Active and Healthy
Ageing (AHA).
Information, Networking&Matchmaking, and Co-creation sessions among all the key-stakeholders of digital solutions for AHA in Europe, Canada, China, Japan,
South Korea and USA.
June 1 June 2 June 3 June 4
Four Targeted Objectives
6
To support the definition of
common priorities to
enhance strategic international
cooperation in digital health for
Active and Healthy Ageing
To provide specific
contributions to the international dialogue in digital
health with the creation of a
Digital Health Transformation
Forum.
To foster international
collaboration for digital solutions in
health care benefitting the
society.
To facilitate the exchanges
between RTI stakeholders from
the EU and the Strategic Partner
Countries in digital health.
Background
7
The population is rapidly ageing in industrialised and emerging economies.Health risks need prevention, treatment of health issues needs assistance, aswell as access to innovations not only for the elderly but also for other patientgroups.
Health systems around the world should learn from each other. Sharingexperiences, innovative approaches and best practices will be key toaccelerating the progress of individual regions.
Joint efforts and mutual learning forthe benefit of the society andindustry on a global level is vital.
A shared vision of Health, Wellnessand Wellbeing for All is crucial toaddress Ageing as a global challenge
8
An expert-driven approach will ensure the involvement of RTI and policy stakeholders, as well as user associations.

• The project will take the context ofsociety, technology and industry, but alsothe policy framework into account for thedevelopment of international cooperationactivities in the digital transformation ofhealth and care.
• The IDIH Experts Forum is expected tobecome a long-lasting mechanism for aninternational dialogue.
Approach
A PEOPLE-CENTRED APPROACH
4 Expert Groups | 4 Strategic Topics
9
Focus: Early diagnosis and detection
Active and healthy aging begins with a prolonged health regimen. Tech-enabled solutions that
engage users in health and wellness techniques will
allow active and meaningful senior lifestyles.
Preventive care
Focus: Using new technologies to redesign, coordinate and integrate health and social services
and place citizens, patients and seniors at the centre of
health systems.
Technology in the integrated care domain is
intended to provide support at the point of care, anytime
and anywhere.
Integrated care
Focus: Tele-monitoring via smart home and living
technologies
Connected living is made possible through smart sensors and buildings,
mHealth solutions, mobility aids, secure data, robotics,
and e-health.
Independent and connected living
Inclusive living
Focus: Helping the elderly to feel socially more
connected
Healthy environments equal healthy individuals. In the aging population, a
component of healthy living is inclusivity,
promoting positive social engagement, and ensuring a rewarding social aspect
to age.

Barriers to data management, from infrastructures to regulation
Which lessons learntfrom COVID19 pandemics
Define a sound data validation system
Electronic Health Records: strenghts and weakenesses
Addressing the lack of common standards for data management and security Define a baselinemodel for Wellbeing
Commercial interests of the main players should be taken into account
OTHER PRIORITY TOPICS: Exchange experiences and improve training on Medical Interviews
Integrated Care 1/3
Innovation Day – June 4, 2021 online
Co-design and co- development with the involvement of caregivers across different types (i.e. physiotherapists and doctors)
disciplines to tackle gaps and barriers.
Importance of a common jargon and how to solve different points of views
Common understandingof expected outcomes
Way to integrated finalgoals and solutions
Continuity of delivery where one receives care not guarenteed
Barrier to integrated care whether services are covered by public or private health providers/ insurances
Need of family vs. personal levelsocial capital measurement
Access to therapy forms destined for young persons differs from senior adults
Integrated Care 2/3
Innovation Day – June 4, 2021 online
Interoperability by design: data (big data, highly curated, metadata...) formats,
security, international standards.
Social services may not use same IT systems as medical services
Health systems are still siloedconsequently interoperability is difficult
Need to find common categories and factors for data reading
Common goal setting, alignement of definitions of QOL/ Health (ICF)
GDPR issues: who has access to the data (regional , national, EU or globally
Does the patient has ownership of an integrated health and social services records?
How to adapt integrated solutions for every participant country?
Common cloud systems (infrastructures), integrated solutions and platforms
Who are the general target users for the final solutions? Need to consider allstakeholders?
What does IT integration look like beyond the walls of the hospitals or regional health services e.g. community pharmacy, dentists etc.. That are not part of the public healthoffering?
Integrated Care 3/3
Innovation Day – June 4, 2021 online

Homecare delivery needs to keep abreastof Technology (e.g. IoT, AI) to bettermanage chronic conditions
Individualised approach may not fit in Asia as itmay in Europe (cultural difference)
Shall «patient-centered care» be family/ friends (primary group). It may cause of potential conflicts
How to bridge the digital divide in terms of age, disability, regional access to broadband internet etc…
Individualised solutions are key factors to manage personal care. However, howto define and set standards for patient/ senior adults centered solutions?
Independent and connected living
Innovation Day – June 4, 2021 online
Promoting independence and mobility through smart and connected communities and
environments.
Create a standardized framework for International Data Governance
& Security (Big Data, Meta Data and Curated Data) based on
interoperability and sharing patient-data and patient generated
data.

loneliness through international and multidisciplinary research teams.
Foster cross generationalsocial connection
Scale up and increased uptake of 'open (IoT) platforms' for the development of these kinds of solutions.
Address uneasiness of people to be fully sensed or monitored
What are the critical data that we need for sure but difficult to collect? How do we collectively make efforts to get them?
Seniors and caregivers need to be involved in co-creatingtools and methods to deal with social isolation and loneliness, leveraging on users associations.
Develop Guidelines for the User interface of SNS friendly to elderly persons
OTHER PRIORITY TOPICS: Investigating how tokeep the motivation of elderly persons for connection with people; Develop a common understanding of Wellbeing and defining indicators.

Personalizing Health LiteracyWhich marginalizations: HIV, LGBTQ
How to address rural areas
Potential for Citizen Science
Education and training of the health care professionals: strong focus on chronic care, recovery, and end- of life care. Regulation/Security issues
within and across borders
Inclusive Living 2/2
Innovation Day – June 4, 2021 online
Enhance virtual care by understanding barriers to and opportunities for digital literacy of care
professionals/end users, and identifying solutions
Lack of infrastructures/Digital Divide: Digital transformation towards interoperability and accessibility
Address stigma and assumptions that older people do not or can't use tech
Virtual care has a complement to human personal care. Human come first.
OTHER PRIORITY TOPICS: • Rewording: unhealthy ≠ unhappy;• International collaboration should be based on JEDI approach (Justice, Equity, Diversity,
Inclusion)• Environmental/Digital Accessibility:• Provide support for informal carers.
Include people with disabilities in co-creation: tech needs to adapt to/learn from users, not the other way around.
