INTRO

The intention of doing this magazine is to develop a deeper understanding towards a certain career. For example,its responsibilities,skills required,problems or difficulties faced and many more.

Therefore,on the 2nd of June,my teammates and I went and interviewed Mr Lee Ah Nam which had 30 years experience as an mechanical and electrical engineer.A few questions were prepared for the interview so that we can learn more about M&E engineering and their personal experience throughout their experience in this career.

I would like to thank my teammates for working this out together as a team and has made this interview went on smoothly.I would also like to thank Mr Lee Ah Nam whom we interviewed for giving us this opportunity.

What does a mechanical & electrical engineer do?

How do you balance your work life with your family life?• Sometimes there is sacrifice

• You must know how to distribute your time

How's the experience throughout working as an M&E engineer?• Role as M&E engineer is to involve in EPC (engineering,procurement &construction) engage and coordinate with private consultant

• make sure that coordinate well with architect

• make sure layout fits with the architecture's design

What's your job in pre-construction,during construction and after construction?• From day 1 to the end

• - site visit,acquire design,construction,conclusion and end of work

What's the PROBLEM you face as an M&E engineer?• Air-cond,firefighting,plumbing work,security surveillance,etc.• Make sure to have a coordination drawing• Miss out a lot of opening and installation in the coordination drawings• ONce there is mistake,you will have ti hack again and redo• M&E have to give feedback to architects• The room size provided can fit according to the requirement for the installation

How does the quality and quantity of workers affect the project?• have high qualify skilled workers initially but nowadays there are unqualified

foreigners as workers due to lack of workers• These workers will end up wth defect work• Nowadays we can't get high quallity buidings

• Do you agree that a sustainanle building is a successful project?

• Yes

What are the fundamental aspects in making a sustainable building?

• MAke sure that the quality of work is per what the clients' requirements• Have to make sure that specs given are followed• If you do not follow the spec,then you are not doing a good job

BIOGRAPHY

Mr Lee as the senior engineering manager of M&E has 30 over years experience wasgraduated from Nothern University.

His role as an engineer is to design and built related to the clients' services

He has worked for 5 years in Kuala Terengganu and also few more years in Kuantan.

He quit government and now is currently working at IJM Construction sdn bhd in Petaling Jaya.

Did a lot of Putrajaya project one of it is Iskandar Melawati Finish the job in time and made a lot of profit "Once we carry out a project,people say do things right at the first time" Teamwork is important Coordination work between architect,civil engineer & M&E engineer is very important Do things right at the first time,so you can avoid redraw or redo again
