I. THE POWER OF THE EXPO AROUND THE WORLD First World Expo was in London in 1851 Paris, France hosted The World Expo 7 times, totaling 135 million visitors. (Eiffel Tower 1889) The 1893 Expo in Chicago, Columbian Worlds Fair

(400 year Columbus celebration), 27 MM visitors Expo in New York in 1939, 44 million visitors Aichi in Japan 2005, is expecting 15 million visitors

I. POWER OF EXPO Atlanta, hosted three Expos in the late 19th

Century:

1. The South’s First World Fair in 1881.2. The International Cotton Exposition in

1887 is said to have brought in $ 2 million in new manufacturing activity.

3. The Cotton States and International Exposition estimated to have drawn over a million visitors in 1895.

II. EPCOTE.P.C.O.T. Comprises of 300 acres, representing 11 nations situated along a 1.3 mile promenade that encircles the 40-acre World Showcase Lagoon. EPCOT was opened on October 1,1982 and has drawn millions of visitors annually

III. ORLANDO CONVENTION = TOURISTS The Orange County Convention Center in Florida,

is currently ranked 2nd in the United States in terms of prime exhibit space behind McCormick Place in Chicago, measuring a total of 2,053,820 sq. ft., and receiving 202,890 people in January 2004.

In 2003, the number of visitors entering Orlando was 31,586,000 ,meanwhile spending a total value of $16,043,145,000

III. ORLANDO RANKINGDISNEY’S:

III. LAS VEGASCONVENTION=INVESTMENT The Las Vegas Convention Center has 3.2 million

square feet of exhibit and meeting space. In addition to meeting space it has many attractions. (This is one of the main reasons why so many shows have moved from Atlanta to Las Vegas.)

In 2003, Visitor Volume entering Las Vegas was 35,849,691, meanwhile spending a total value of $31,464,678,364

ATLANTA The Georgia World Congress Centeropened its doors in 1976 as one of

America’s convention facilities with 350,000 square-feet of exhibit space. Today, the facility features 2.3 million square feet of exhibit space, making the GWCC one of

the top five largest convention centers in the country. In 2001, the GWCC welcomed

3.5 million conventioneers.

F.C.D.A. THE FULTON COUNTY DEVELOPMENT

AUTHORITY has issued $ 2 billion in Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRB’s) since 1973.

These bonds have provided financing for more than 190 businesses that were

relocating & expanding existing facilities, which has created or retained more then 335,000 jobs in the Fulton County.
